Games and cost

My 5 year old LOVES playing games at theme parks. While it is not my favorite use of money (I hate paying for games), we do allow him this indulgence on occasion. For example, we went to Sesame Place in June and got a $25 game card for each of the four of us (Yep, that's $100 on games) because it was a very special occasion and we're unlikely to go back. He was soooo happy, plus most of their games are winner every time, so we had to run back to the car to store all our loot after our game time. Despite the enormous expense, I'd say it was worth it because we all had a lot of fun and he was just so thrilled he got to play all of the games.

Anyway, our trip is for his 6th birthday (my husband and I will also be celebrating our birthdays there, but Disney's all about the kids for us). We want to allow him to play some games again, but I'd like to know where they are, what types of games they are, and how much they cost to play. Are there any winner every time games?

TIA!

What kind of games?

Disney has a few interactive games throughout the parks:
Magic Kingdom: Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom - https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/magic-kingdom/sorcerers/
EPCOT: Agent P's World Showcase Adventure - https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/epcot/agent-p-world-showcase-adventure/
Animal Kingdom: Lion Guard Adventure (I'm not sure if this is still happening or not, can't find it on the WDW site) -https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2016/02/new-lion-guard-adventure-begins-at-disneys-animal-kingdom/

All of those are free, but only the Lion Guard Adventure has a "prize" I believe.

Also, where are you staying? All of the resorts (I believe) have an arcade with normal arcade style games.

The carnival style games are only in Animal Kingdom. You buy tickets from any of the games or at the kiosk. They only take Magic band (maybe credit too) at the games but a kiosk sells them if you want to pay cash.

Last time both my fiance and I actually won! The prices at Animal Kingdom aren't really worth it, we just like play the games. They are cheap and not Disney themed. I much prefer the games at California Adventure boardwalk. I got a fishing Goofy from a game there a couple years ago. I will never understand why the DAK games don't have Disney prizes.

All I can think of are the games near Triceratops Spin. We don't play those so I don't know if you have a good chance at winning. (We've played at DCA in Anaheim because those are easy to win or set up so only your family is playing so one of you will win.)

We all have our own things we enjoy on vacations. I like a beer while DH doesn't. DH likes things I don't. DS likes games and arcades. To what's fun for DS while I drink a $10 beer wouldn't be nice lol.

So don't feel bad about playing the games if that's what a family member likes. :)

There are arcade games in the space mountain gift shop area. There are normal arcade prices. If you are staying offsite there is an awesome Dave & Busters near the Orlando Convention Center. If you go on Wednesdays it is half-off all game play.

I think you are thinking more along the lines of a 6 flags type of theme park, Disney is not really like that at all. AK has a part of the park that has a few games because it's supposed to be like a carnival. No clue on the prices as they have zero interest for us. Each resort does have an arcade with the typical chuck. e. cheese type prizes I believe and you can use a card to play those too. They run an average of what any other arcade game would cost, we have only played a few times because our reservations came with arcade game $$. With 5 of us, we ended up only using 3 of the cards and giving the other 2 away, we didn't want to waste park time in the arcade! LOL!

I would give the in-park games a try like Kingdom Keepers (we loved reading the books first!) and Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (we are getting our binder ready for next months trip!), Remy's Scavenger hunt and Agent P's in Epcot are a lot of fun too!!

Also note on the arcade games, last I heard (and witnessed myself) the prize machines have gone away. I haven't checked every hotel arcade but when we were at Beach/Yacht there was no prize machine any more and no counter either.

The Boardwalk area also has carnival type games. These are more challenging though and might be difficult for small children. And just like at AK, the prizes are cheap and not Disney themed. I agree with the above poster about DCA - we won a high quality large Dumbo there once that we still have. Almost every one of our AK prizes have wound up in the donate bin...

Wait? Since when has there been a Kingdom Keepers game? Must be out of the loop during silver blackout... #booknerd

It's the carnival style games in AK that he'd be interested in. Anyone know the cost to play or what the games are exactly?

The "official" one is only available through Disney Youth and Education trips. There is on in the App Store called Kindom Keepers Quest that you can download for free and play while in the Magic Kingdom but it is not by Disney it is through a 3rd party so be careful of giving too much private information with our further research.
