A former co-worker was on Jeopardy a few years ago

My grandmother and two aunts were on a game show back in the late 40's or early 50's. I can't remember the name right now, but celebrities played for you, seems like the host was Alun Funt or something close to that. My grandmother and her two oldest daughters were completely bald. She wrote to the show and explained that they were very poor (very true) and the two girls were in school and were constantly teased because they didn't have hair (they wore hats). The show paid for them to get to NY City and stay in a motel, which was a big deal for three young ladies from the woods of Virginia (I mean they lived in the country!). They appeared on the show, I know they all got wigs and some other stuff, maybe money too. My mom (she was the only child with hair) would know all the details. When they returned home and went to school with their new "hair" the kids stopped calling them names like "baldy" and switched to "wiggie" Kids can be so cruel.
