Galveston Transportation

We were originally booked on the Wonder out of Port Canaveral in February 2017, but due to work commitments we needed to change our cruise date. We are now sailing on the Wonder out of Galveston in January. I had everything set for Orlando and I'm now trying to figure stuff out for Galveston.

I think I've got the hotel, and the airfare figured out. We'll be coming in the night before and staying in Galveston. Flying home last day of the cruise (5pm flight out of IAH).

My issue is transportation from IAH to our hotel & then from the cruise port to IAH. Options:

-Renting a car, but it is not my favourite option. My DH would prefer not to drive, and I really don't want to either.
-Disney shuttle, which I don't think would take us to our hotel the day before as we didn't book it through Disney, but we could use it to get back to the airport.
-Private town car. From pricing online, it looks like around $340 + tip round trip. Pricey but maybe the best option?
-Shuttle. Not really sure how these work, but pricing looks to be around $25/person, and there are 4 of us, so $200 round trip. Much cheaper than the town car, but how convenient is this option? Is the extra money for a town car worth the time we would save? (I know this is a personal preference, but wondering what others have found)
-Taxi. From taxi fare estimator, it looks like around $400 round trip. So that option is out.

Is there anything I'm missing? What have others found works the best? I'm leaning towards the town car, but the price is a little more than I was hoping to spend. Maybe that just is what it is.

Any input that you can provide, or tips about cruising out of Galveston, would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you can find 2 cheap one-way rentals for a car, your best bet may be to use a shared or private shuttle, or town car service, particularly since you would be flying into IAH. There are many shuttle companies operating in the area, so finding one this early should not be an issue. Maybe someone else who has cruised out of Galveston will have a better solution. When we cruised out of Galveston, we drove our own car and parked at the port.
