Who has done the Galley Tour ? Where and when do you sign up ? We are Platinum but our friends are Silver, is it for all levels ?
What did you see ? Did you get to sample any of the food ? Was it worth it ?
How long did it last ? THANKS !

I'd be interested in seeing answers to your questions also. The galley tour wasn't offered on either of our cruises on the Wonder and Magic last year. I'd love to do one, though!

Although maybe platinum cruisers do still get to do this (seems I've read people saying they have.....), my understanding is that they don't offer this anymore. There are "art of entertaining" presentations that include kitchen info and there is a funnel vision "tour". :goodvibes

The only Galley Tour we've done on DCL was during our WBTA in 2010. It was available to anyone, I think the minimum age was 14, first-come, first served for tickets.

I read since that it was only offered as a perk to Platinum CC members. And then I read that they discontinued it due to health concerns. Now I'm reading that there have been some tours offered on the Fantasy. So, who knows?

Officially, the are no longer doing them. Therefore, no way to know if they are, when they are, or how to sign up.

However, some (at least last summer) had mentioned they were asked on the spot to join them...

There was a thread in December about the galley tours being offered again. I also posted a thread recently to double check this, and apparently they are once again being offered, at least on the Fantasy.

This is not a Castaway Club perk, but open to all adults. You sign up for this at Guest Services, and according to the threads they are offered at different times. Don't know if you just make a reservation or you get tickets, not that it's important.

They were not offered on the January 13th and 17th Dream cruises...

I did the galley tour on the Wonder years ago, and it was very interesting! AND we got a fresh baked cookie ;) (I know you can get them all over the ship, but they took it out of the oven in front of us. It was a special cookie.) The tour we went on was free and open to the public, and had nothing to do with the platinum perks. That being said, since we've turned platinum, they took away all of the platinum perks tours. It was said that they no longer offered that as a platinum perk, but if they brought back the public galley tour, hopefully they might be bringing back the platinum perks tours as well. :goodvibes I'll find out in 30 days I guess!

We were on the 1/12/13 Fantasy Eastern cruise and did the Galley tour. We signed up at guest services the moment we got on board. There were about 20 of us and it took about 45 minutes. We walked into the galley at The Royal Court and came out into Animator's Palate. We got fresh-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies at the end :goodvibes

I've done this a couple of times on the Magic, years ago, and very much looking forward to doing the tour on the Fantasy next week!

Cantsitstill, may I ask how much, if anything, the tour cost on the Fantasy?

I did the galley tour on the Fantasy 1/19/13 cruise. It was great and I hope they offer it on my Magic cruise in the Med this summer! I signed up at GS upon boarding and received a free ticket. The warm chocolate chip at the end was a nice treat too, and it was just so cool learning how the behind the scenes goes!

I'm a total cooking show nerd. So thanks for mentioning these...I'll ask about it for my next cruise. Hopefully they'll be offered on the Magic.

Yes, the galley tour on the Fantasy is free...we did one on January 31. It was interesting to learn how they handle allergies and how much food they bring in to feed all of us! We signed up as soon as we boarded at guest services (along with the mixology and champagne tasting sessions:woohoo:)!

Any idea if they offer this on the Dream? Have only seen Fantasy mentioned.

Just sailed on the Magic on 1/26/2013. We inquired about a galley tour because my brother is a chef but they said they were not offering any due to health and safety reasons. We even talked to the head chef at Palo who asked his boss but couldn't get one.

From the sounds of things the galley tours seem to be a random hit or miss event. But there's no hurt in trying. Good luck!

We are gold and cruised last month on the magic, 8 nights. We were told they no longer did this anywhere for all the reasons previously stated.....a mystery!
