Just scheduled my surgery for Sept 3 and we are leaving for WDW Oct 1. This gives me 4 weeks to recover. I had the surgeon, the resident and a nurse tell me this is plenty of time (planning on laproscopic). I am staying overnight and then will have plenty of help post-op. My husband works from home and my mom is coming to help with my kids (6yo & 3yo). My oldest daughter will be back at school my then too.

Has anyone out there did WDW 4 weeks post-op? Most people I'm talked to said they feel better after a few weeks.

I didn't go to WDW after my gallbladder surgery, but was back working part time and taking care of two kids after two weeks. I had my surgery the week before Christmas. DH had two weeks off and took care of the kids who were 4years old and 15 months old at the time. It was fine. I think you'll be OK after 4 weeks. You might find that you get tired more quickly, so plan on a few breaks to sit down and put your feet up during the day. Be sure to drink plenty of water since the weather will still be warm in October.

I had my gallbladder out too. I had to stay overnight because it was really full with stones, so they had to cut further. I was in pain for about a week, on pain killers, but after that fine. I went on a cruise 7 weeks later. You should be fine. Ask your Dr. Mine was real bad, and I could of survived Disney 4 weeks later. Good luck!

I had my gallbladder removed when I was 27 weeks pregnant. I obviously didn't do Disney 4 weeks later, but other than being 31 weeks pregnant, I think I would have been fine to go to Disney. I even had some complications with recovery due to the fact that I was in my third trimester. I felt remarkable better in about a week and was back to my old self in two weeks.

A friend of mine just had this happen earlier this summer. She did WDW 2 1/2 weeks post gallbladder surgery and was fine. I think 4 weeks will give you plenty of time to recover.

The biggest adjustment is making sure you eat the correct foods.

Esp at Disney, you could really "pay" for it.

Just FYI, there are two threads of this alike! I just posted on the other one!!

Double thread!!

I had mine out this Spring and I was off and running (not really running) the very next day and then I got a little cold and that hurt because of the coughing but I was fine.

I had my gallbladder out in February and went on a 7 day cruise with my 15 month old toddler 9 days later. There was a lot of baby carrying and I had to be careful but other than that I was fine. I used the ergo for my 15 month old without a problem, I just had to have someone help put him in for me.

Had mine out 12/6/2010 after a serious attack one night. The surgeon planned on doing it laparoscopic, however once in there he saw that the entire organ, a small part of the Liver and my rib cage wall was entirely gangrene. For a surgery that was too last 30-45 minutes at most, I was under for 3 hours. I didn't wake up for three days, and was in the hospital for 10 more. I was very sore and it was mid January before the soreness subsided to the point that I could bend, twist and get a real good nights sleep. I pray that yours goes much smother.
