Gallbladder Problems Anyone?

My stomach felt bloated like it was pumped full of air. I kept thinking if I could vomit it would feel better but even after vomitting it felt bloated. Also I had intestinal cramping. I would run to the bathroom thinking I was going to have diarrhea or something but nothing. I would curl up in a ball and lie on my side for relief. I was also sweaty. I never knew if that was from the stomach cramps or not. I never had back pain though. My first attack was at Disney/MGM. I ran to the bathroom thinking I had an intestional flu because of the nausea and cramping. I had several attacks which were diagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome. Finally I had a songram that revealed lots of stones. I am so glad I had the surgery. I can eat anything now without a problem.

Miss Kelly,

I in no way mean to frighten you or anyone else who has a gallbladder problem, however my mom had a problem with hers for as long as I can remember (i'm now 33). They said for so many years that it wasn't working, yet she'd always get pain there. She never had it out, not sure if that was more her aversion to doctors or just she wasn't a candidate for it, however she developed a blockage between the bile ducts and gallbladder and somehow that's where a tumor/cancer developed. She was diagnosed and passed away in 7 weeks (this all happened last summer).

Again, please i'm not trying to frighten you, all I want to tell you is that if something is truly bothering you and you're having chronic gallbladder issues, please get it checked out. It may not seem serious, and unfortunately what my mom developed is a very rare form or cancer, however I can't help but wonder what may have been if she just had it out years ago.

I don't know how cancer develops, but I do know she suffered terribly with this.

Nah, I'll pass but thanks for the offer!

LOL, actually my BIL had some gallbladder problems and he turned yellow! I mean really, really yellow. I can't remember the details but somehow gall-stones affected his liver and once they removed his gallbladder he was fine and turned back to his normal milky white self, lol

My Mom was having really bad back pain and went to her regular Doctor. He didn't think it was anything like the gallbladder, even though there is family history.

She went to the Chiropractor for the back pain. Described her symptoms to him and he told her to go back and demand an ultrasound. She did and had several gallstones that had to be removed (surgery).

I would get everything ruled out! ::yes::

DW had a gallbladder full of stones.

She was so nauseated, she said it was much worse than morning-sickness. She sometimes thought she was having a heart attack.

Fortunately, the surgery went well and she was able to attend my brother's week 2 weeks later.

Please, by all means, get it checked out. We want to hear about your recovery!

Dave

Hi, Miss Kelly--I'm going to echo the advice of a couple of posters and urge you to go in for tests to rule things out. My gallbladder and stones caused hard gaslike pains in my upper right abdomen and back that only walking around would relieve slightly until they'd subside several hours later. I lived with this for 10 years. Last fall, I went into the ER with a lower mid abdominal "mystery pain". Even though it turned out to be my appendix, they were just as concerned about getting out my gallbladder. The surgeon said it was the sickest one he'd seen in awhile, and in danger of gangrene. The laprascopic surgery was smooth, the recovery went great and now I feel wonderful.

I can't tell you how much I wish I would have gotten rid of that thing right away. But hindsight is 20/20....

Good luck, and let us know how you do!

I know this was an old post but thanks for all of the help.....I went into the ER last Tuesday night with a major attack. They had scheduled the surgeon and everything. I panicked and asked to leave saying I felt better.....can you say compliant? They let me go but with stren orders to come right back if I got sicker and to call my primary care the next day. I did and he wanted me to go bakc to the ER.....again can you say non-compliant? I went to surgeon on Friday, only problem is general suregeon who does these was at another site. They screwed up, so I saw a surgeon who specializes in Cancer. He wanted me to go to ER, again-wll you get the picture. I have been doing the I am not hungry and only drinking clear stuff since then. I have not had another bad attack, but will say since reading this if I do do you know where I will be-----the ER!
