I think I asked this question a few months ago but I can't remember the answer if I got one. What time does parking open at DHS? Do they just let you in for free if you go too early? (I'm a passholder anyways so it doesn't matter) We want to be there early on opening day and aren't sure when to go

no idea, never tried to go in at 2am lol. But I thought I read at one point in the massive GE info thread, it's just an unmanned booth. But that could change since I gotta think Disney is expecting people to be rolling in at 1am

So this has happened to us before. We got to Epcot before the booths were open nor where they directing traffic. We let the first cast member we saw know there was no one there. They told us it was ok. I did not want to get into trouble for not paying to park.

The Lots never close unless they are full due to capacity. We have parked in a WDW theme park lot multiple times before opening. We often drive overnight to beat traffic. (Again we weren't trying to skip paying it just so happened to work out that way.) Usually signs are up that say proceed to parking. You will absolutely NOT get in trouble for parking if the ticket booths are unmanned if you arrive early in the morning. Consider the free parking a perk for arriving extra extra early. Once we arrived at DHS around 6:00 AM to watch my wife run a race. Another time we arrived at the TTC (MK) lot around 6:30 (for a regular 9AM opening) I expect they will man the booths even earlier for those 6AM openings this fall. In both instances we were resort guests and pass holders, but the signs we encountered explicitly stated booths were closed, proceed to parking.

You'll want to check out the thread about GE Opening Day for more info as it comes. As of now nothing official has come from WDW, but some unofficial info has leaked out that for opening day, the parking lot will open at 12am. Which likely means a sweep of the lot between DHS closing on 8/28 and 12am 8/29.

The guest parking lot now actually closes because the CM parking entrance is on another road. I have been told that for day one the parking lot is planned to open at midnight

I am expected most people to show up around 2 or 3am
