i remember going to AK shortly after pandora opening & waiting 2.5 hours for FOP! I know theres a hurricane bearing down, but only seeing 1.5 hours for smugglers run. Were crowds scared to turn out or is it flopping?

A ton of people are cancelling because of the hurricane. It looks like wait times are really low all over WDW. Also, the exact same ride has been open in California for a few months, so it's not as "new" as FOP was.

Keep in mind that Disney is also keeping wait times down and crowds lower with the virtual queue. I think I saw an article somewhere from Disney saying that higher wait times doesn’t mean success. It’s actually what Disney doesn’t want, because it means less people spending $$$

I don't think they're using the virtual queue now though. I'm pretty sure they don't use until the land reaches capacity.

MCO is closing on Monday. I suspect some guests are rescheduling their departure

I wonder what the ride capacity, riders per hour, is for FoP and for the MFSM.

I absolutely do not consider it is a flop. I would classify it as the negative risk of opening a "passionate" land prematurely. I have made the argument in another thread on these boards, that opening a partially finished land would have negative PR effects.

I think once Rise opens, the playbook opens and we'll see a 2+ year wave of guests to Galaxy's Edge.

It's kinda crazy. If 5 years ago you said that a land based on Avatar would be (at least initially) more popular than a land based on Star Wars, not a single person would believe you!

Apples and Oranges. 1.5 hours WITHOUT ANYONE coming in via Fastpass which is easily over half of people riding. Even with that conservative estimate that translates into what would have easily been 3-4 hours had this had Fastpass. Not to mention the limitations on numbers entering the land. It's kind of ridiculous to be making any sort of judgments about anything right now especially judgments which aren't supported by what we're seeing. Whatever time you see for waits - at least double it if you want any sort of rational comparison with any other ride at WDW.

I know the 1st few days they did use the virtual que and this seems to be a game changer when it comes to the lines. The area itself shows photos of it being fairly crowded and Oga's has been packed by all reports.

....my wait time was only 10 minutes or so.... :rolleyes1 ...of course, since my DS is a CM, we were lucky enough to experience SW:GE with virtually no crowds at all BEFORE the official public grand opening....Smuggler's Run is a way cool ride [we rode it twice in less than 15 minutes], but I honestly love Avatar's FoP better....I also found out a little known fact about myself: I REALLY STINK at being a pilot.
