I was wondering if we are planning on a round trip to MCO from BDL Feb 12-Feb22, if the new schedule comes out for Feb, booking only through Feb. 16, should I book a one way for Feb 12th and wait for the Feb. 22 date to come available...or...should I wait and book a round trip at the same time?

PS this is our first time booking SWA and I am obsessing. Thank You!!

If the fare is really good and good for one way and the dates are cut off the way your scenario plays, I would book the one way and add on later. If the fares are better later you can rebook the one way to be round trip.
I think you will like SWA, they are great.

Instead of starting a new thread...I am hoping you'll see this question, Gail :)

We have seats booked on a 12:15 flight....there is a flight that leaves earlier. As far as I can tell, that flight is not sold out. I have read/heard stories of people showing up at the airport, to see if they can get on an earlier flight. Can you do that on SWA? Is there any way to find out of the flight is sold out?

thanks!

You cannot just show up and try to go standby with SWA, they will charge you full fare for that. The only way to reliably tell if the flight is sold out is to call them. If the fare is the same and you want the earlier flight, check to make sure your return is still available at the same price and change your itinerary. You can do this on the website http://www.southwestair.com/travel_center/
or call SWA and they can walk you through it.

Madge: I noticed you are from KY. Are you booking a flight out of Louisville? If you don't mind me asking, what kind of pricing are you getting and from where?

For starters, I live in Hardin County, just outside of Elizabethtown :)

I originally booked our flight on Southwest, out of Indianapolis at a great fare of $118 per person (plus taxes, fees, blah blah blah). Then I received a postcard from SWA with a 15% off promotional code....I could have changed our flight in Indianapolis for a credit, but I decided to re-book out of Nashville for the same price as we paid to fly out of IND. It takes an hour shorter for us to get to Nashville and the flight times are better for us.

I keep checking SWA for a fare drop, so we can fly out of Louisville. The prices to FL are very good right now, if you are willing to fly in September :)

As far as prices go
  • Indianapolis is $123 through mid-January (on ATA)
  • Louisville is $123 through September 28
  • Nashville is $83 before September 28
  • Cincinnati is $129 through October 1

hope this helps! it got a little long :Pinkbounc

If you go to www.swa.com you will see all their pricing. They do not do orbitz, tavelocity, etc. You need to book tbrough them.
