I'm trying to figure out fun gifts for my dad. He likes sort of trendy gadgets that he wouldn't buy himself. For example, I bought him a GPS system when they first game out; Apple TV; a Fit Bit, etc---all when they were sort of the "hot thing". He's asked for an iWatch for his birthday since they aren't out yet. He has an iphone, ipad mini, new computer, etc.

I'm thinking of ordering him a skin for his ipad mini....

Any ideas? I'm thinking around the 100.00 price point, but I'd go a bit higher if it was really cool.

I bought my husband a Jackery portable charger. I ordered myself an Amazon Fire TV stick. I think it will be great for hotel rooms.

Does he like coffee? Does he have a Keurig? (I know it's not "tech" but I would consider it a "gadget" at least!)

Bluetooth headset?

Bluetooth speaker?

Chromecast?

Roku?

Dropcam?

Does he golf? My husband loves his golf GPS (it's specific to golf, does not work on roadways), it has the topography of courses, and other details you can access in real time each hole at most courses.

Thanks for ideas...and keep them coming. He doesn't listen to music, doesn't play golf....he's a pretty basic guy. He is into recreational boating---trying to figure something out in that direction maybe.

I did find him a keyboard cover for his ipad at Brookstone today...and some gloves (exciting I know) that he can wear and still use his iphone/ipad.

My mom is getting my dad a home weather station. It has a sensor you hang outside and tracks all kinds of info, barometer, humidity, rain, temp. It has an atomic clock and all sorts of other stuff. My dad loves to track the weather, maybe its something your dad would enjoy, we found it on amazon starting at about 40.

When it comes to boating, there isnt much you can get in the $100 range. I would never buy these for myself, but they would make great gifts.

1) automatic inflatable life jackets, they start at around $100 and go up to $500.
2) portable solar panels. These are great on a boat to charge/power small electronics like a cell phone rather than draining the boat battery.

Its more of a stocking stuffer, but I love my cord buddy to keep all my charging cords accessible and not fall behind my nightstand.

For boating, maybe some type of waterproof case to take the ipad with?

Oh, there's lots of gadgets for boats:

GPS
Depth finder
Trailer hitch lock
Backup camera for his truck (to aid with hooking trailer)
Battery cutoff switch
Dual battery kit
etc
