Have been trying every couple of days. I have two girls, 10 and 9. Project Linus is not on our local list. I cannot find anything close to me for volunteering. I am glad that many of you are having luck and are able to do this, as it really does foster the attitude that Disney wanted to create. But darn it, I would like to also!!!!!!

Is anyone else having trouble finding something to do?

I am having the same problem. I have signed up for 3 different opportunities only to be told a few days later that the opportunity I signed up for already has all its volunteers. :scared1: My dd is 8, and I can find no more volunteer opportunities that will allow kids that young. Project Linus is not listed in our area either. I would be more than happy to make blankets. I crochet and make some nice blankets.

This is just too frustrating. If Disney is promoting this as family thing, then they should have made sure there were plenty of options for families to volunteer together. I am not happy. :sad2:

It's been difficult, but I finally got signed up for something. I will scream if they come back and tell me they don't need me! We are having to drive about 1 1/2 hours for it though. There are only 3 opportunities within 20 minutes of where we live, but they are for ages 16 and older. We have a 13 year old and an 11 year old. Keep trying the website. I check it at least 3-4 times a day. Good luck!

I had to book one that only my 15 year old could come with me for. I really think a ten year old could stock shelves at the food bank but they would not let me sign her up! We will use our 2 days to get the special fastpasses so it is okay that only half my family is volunteering. Hopefully they will get more "family" opportunites posted up soon!

Keep in mind that there are legal liability and possibly "child labor" considerations that these organizations need to contend with when it comes to kids volunteering. It's not necessarily that kids under a certain age can't do the job, but may be that legally, they're not allowed to let them.

If you're not planning a trip until after the Spring, give it some time and try again. The "big push" is on right now with all the promotion and the program being brand new. JMHO, but I would expect that the hubbub will die down in a little while, and still well before they reach the million voucher mark, and all the of the groups that are maxed out for volunteers in the next few months, will be looking for people once the big rush dies down.

I don't know yet. I just signed up & submitted my form today. I selected a local food bank because it said it was on Wed. evenings which works pretty good for our schedule and it was one of the few that DS could do (age 12) + get credit for some SSL hours for it. Then I also had to register on this other website for it in addition...I called then with a question and the girl said they've literally received hundreds of requests & they're really backed up trying to respond. I then found out that the Wed thing is only 1 day a month!!:headache: So I don't know what our odds are of getting into it. Our trip is the end of March - we have AP's and we'd hoped to use the vouchers for fast passes...but now I have my doubts that we'll get in for the Feb 10 slot. If we don't get that one we could try for March 10 but the 2 week period in which to receive the vouchers ends by is only 2 days before we go. Not sure if I trust that one....:rolleyes1 I guess I under estimated how popular this would be.

I was also disappointed with the number of them with age restrictions of 15+

I almost missed it at first, so thought I would mention it here. After you enter your zip code, the opportunities are listed. But, at the bottom of the page it says something like "click here for more opportunities" so be sure to check that as well. That bottom link is where I found my first option, but the charity did not have dates and events scheduled yet. I went back to the site another day and found something with specific dates and times that worked better for us. The key here is that I found it in the morning and by later that afternoon it was full. So do try to check early every day as new opportunities are being added all the time.

I went out of my state on the search and found more Lucas programs that you can make blankets and mail them in. Our local one is full and they wanted 2 blankets each where the one in IL only wants one each.

 We got confirmed to work on Feb 10!! Good luck everyone finding something!
