I have a question- I've noticed a lot of people plan or have used their GAD vouchers for a pastpass, rather than a free admission...why?
What makes that a better deal? Just curious,as we have one for each of us we plan to use,and that is a significant cost reduction to get in free for one day.... any help here?

We have annual passes so did not need the one day admission. We go in the busy summer, so the automatic fast passes were a life saver for us.

I'm using mine for fastpasses because we got our tickets thru the YES program and they were alot cheaper. I think alot of people have APs or tickets left from before that are using them for fastpasses.

My DH used his towards his Annual Pass, I already had an AP voucher so we got the fast passes on our last day. It was Princess Half-Marathon weekend, it had been dead all week but that Sat was mobbed in the Magic Kingdom. We basically walked onto 6 rides that had an average 1 hour wait time each, you can't put a price on that! As soon as we got back my parents signed up for GAD Project Linus and got in less than 24 hours before the program closed. I can't wait to use the fast passes again in December!

We had AP's as well so used the fast pass. We could have used it to decrease the price of my DD's ticket but we went for the hat figurine with pins (not sure why). :headache:

The fastpass option allows everyone in your group (up to six people) to receive a FP card that is good for up to six rides in the park where it is redeemed. We went to WDW (2 main park days)and Universal this summer, and we all had two days of tickets left except for DD11, who had one day. We redeemed her voucher for admission and the rest of ours for FP cards.

Due to the FP cards, we rode Toy Story Mania three times even though the regular FPs ran out at 11:15 that morning. We used our park tickets for FPs for ToT and RnR, so we saved about five hours of waiting on a very hot summer day. We were able to avoid the rope drop stampede to TSM and were able to get instant FPs after the regular ones were gone for the day.

At MK, we were able to avoid criss-crossing the park to collect FPs. If we arrived at a ride and didn't want to wait, we used an immediate FP.

We hopped to Epcot one evening and FPs for Soarin' were gone and the wait was 100 minutes. We rode immediately. We went to Test Track and the wait was 80 minutes. We rode immediately and gave a family of four instant FPs for Test Track. They were speechless. :goodvibes

We could have saved our old tickets, but the FP cards allowed us to travel with less stress (my kids get a bit nervous at the TSM rope drop stampede) and less planning (no sending a runner to get FPs across the park). We go to WDW almost every year, and the FP cards allowed us to travel in a way we likely won't be able to do again. It wasn't worth the cost savings to us to give up the perks in July. But if you are going at a slower, cooler time and don't already have tickets, upgrading the GAD vouchers might be the way to go.

More info on the Fastpass Exchange cards can be found here.

The GADD passes are not park hoppers, that surprised me when we went to get them. I still did get the one day passes, but had to change our plans a little to not park hop that day.

I did not need the FP (my son is handicapped, we use the HC entrances sometimes), but I was there in the summer and I think the FP is a great option.

I had a package that had a required tix minimum and you could not use the GAD passes.

The fastpasses were so much better and the return time is instant. They were worth their weight in gold.

I've used instant fast passes from the DVC tour of BLT. It's really cool. I could get 3 different fastpasses in one day, and the pass was good for 3 days (I believe). Except there needed to be pass for each person.
