Hi All,
So I for some stupid reason CANNOT find DD's birth certificate. I've filed it somewhere VERY safe!!! Shoot!
Anyway, before I head to city records to get another copy. (I have 3 around here somewhere).
Can I bring a copy of a copy? I'm trying to check with my daughter's school to see if they still have a copy from when I registered her. I'm thinking I could copy that?
Any ideas on if this will work? Thanks!

Never mind!! I found the original! Folded up with some other papers from our DL trip last year! We went for my daughter's birthday, so I still had it with the certificate I had to present to get her free ticket!
Yeah!

From what I have read on these boards a copy is OK. So as long as the Copy of the Copy is very good and ledgible I don't see why not?
Good Luck!

It would be best not to take the original.......a copy is fine. They didn't even look at my 9yr old's when we turned our GAD voucher in for FP's.

do you still need birth cert to use GAD voucher if the child has an annual pass in the system (i.e., is that enough proof of ID?)

Yes, even with an AP, you must bring a birth certificate or passport for children. I almost learned this the hard way back in August. I didn't bring my kids passports with me since we hadn't needed them for the birthday promotion. The CM said the legalities are different for this promotion so they must have ID. I had arrived about 6:30 pm on a Saturday specifically to see a band perform, Doc Anello and the Swing Machine, as my son's middle school band director is in the band. They only perform on Saturdays. We have SoCal APs, so we are always blocked out. We were going to renew our passes that day with the GAD vouchers, so we'd be able to get in. We would have wasted so much time going back home. After about 15 minutes of explaining the situation to a supervisor, we received some Disney magic and were given complimentary one-park tickets for my two sons. (DD was home sick) If it had been earlier in the day, we probably wouldn't have been given the tickets and would have had to go home. We brought passports and used our vouchers on our next visit a few weeks later. So be sure not to forget ID for the kids!

When we did our GAD day in May, I kept reminding my DD that she needed the BC for my grandson, who also did the GAD. The day before we left for DL, she called me to say she couldn't find his BC! She had his SS card, vaccination records, and even a paper from the hostpital when he was born. She didn't think it would be a big deal but I was stressed! When we got to the ticket window we explained that we didn't have his BC and we had to wait a little for a supervisor, but they gave him his ticket and had me sign something and took a pic of my DL. I was so glad the made it as painless as possible.

that's really weird. The birthday promo required the certified copy (not a copy of the certified copy) (I refuse to use the word "original" for a bc b/c apart from having the original certified copy, there's no such thing that we can actually have in our hands!). And the GAD promo hasn't required the certified copy; they have been allowing copies of the certified bc.

You were lucky for the birthday promo! We *had to have* the certified bc for DS to get his giftcard, and I had to show my license to get my giftcard, and we were both AP holders for the birthday promo year...

I nearly ran into a problem last year. I had filled out the form online with my daughter's nickname, but her BC has her full name. Luckily they didn't give us too hard of a time, but it sounded like they might have. I DID make sure that the GAD cert had her FULL name!

I thought for sure I was going to have a problem, I go by Kerri (and always have) but my name on my driver's license is Kathryn (my given name), well I filled out the bday form with Kerri out of habit and didn't even think about Kathryn being on my DL. I was worried but it wasn't a problem at all, I just showed the CM how my first and middle name make my nickname and gave the "family name" etc explanation and they were OK with it. lol For the girls tho we did have to have their certified original birth certificates so I too find it interesting that they are accepting copies for the GAD promo.

Maybe it depended on the CM, but we did the birthday promo 4 times last year and never had to show ID. DS had the first birthday and I pulled out his passport, but the CM never looked at it.

DBF and I had to show our ID's and we had to show the girls' birth certs for them. We had AP's, did the promo 4 times to get the fun cards and we were asked each time for proof of who we were.

We just ran into a similar problem , we r staying at the DLH tonight to celebrate DD birthday tomorrow, so we figured it would be easier to turn in our GAD vouchers tonight to make it easier tomorrow. We planned on upgrading to annual passes for Dh, DS and myself, well guess what I forgot my DS (9) birth certificate, I figured that I had his annual pass from last year and his insurance card with his name on it , but no go. Finally after 2 supervisrs they offered us a comp ticket for my DS. What a pain! I understand for adults but really who are you scamming when your child's last name matches ours and his address from the AP. The lawyers have taken over and common sense has gone out the window.
