Day Six - Wednesday 5-1

Trip was from April 26th to May 3rd.

We had to get up early to be at the bus stop by 7 to catch the Character Bus to AK. "the bus starts at 7" we were told by CM.

I'm a bit nervous, knowing we'll have to go to FW first, and the "tour starts at 8:30' cannot wait for anyone.

We I wake up at 7, 1/2 hr. before the wake up call. The wake up call is just music, no Mickey. :(

We have a quick bite to eat in the room, coffee and we are at the bus stop at 7. The bus comes at 7:15 and we are on our way to FW. No one is there, so the bus driver does not go "in" to pick up people. Still it takes us 1/2 hr to get to AK.

The tour started on time and was great. Our guides were Jeremy and Trina. It's Trina's 6th day on the job. She also works at the Conservation area that Disney owns. Jeremy went to West VA.

We went in Mini Vans, Minnie Vans over to the Rhino barn, We say 3 white rhinos and had a trainer there with us to answer questions. Can't remember her name, the Rhino had stepped on her name tag, she was very knowledgeable.

Next we went to the Elephant Barn. Some barn. They were washing down one of the elephants, we could just see him around the corner. They keep one male in the barn every day. They switch the males off, that go out on the Safari. The females go out every day, but only one male goes out. Males do not get along with other elephants. And there will be a birth, within the next 22 months. I'm sure we will all read about it.

We then went to the Giraffe house. We saw a Rothschild Giraffe, did not know that there were 2 kinds of Giraffees. The ones on the Safari are Reticulated Griaffees. Can't remember the name of this Rothschild but he has very good genes and is waiting here until he can be shipped off to mate with someone. He won't come back to AK. He's from the Bronx zoo and was very smart.

Then we went and saw some birds, macaws. Beautiful. It's hot again and we've been walking for a while.

We then went into a classroom, airconditioned and they gave us water and a snack. then over to the kitchen area to see the food and how it is prepared. Then we went to the hospital, saw a technician who was labelling blood from a Turtle that was taken this am. It was yellow. Saw the operating room, then back to the classroom, more water and we got a book, some other literature, saw a short movie and then got a Back Stage Safari Pin. These are not sold, so traders wanted them. Met a lady from Michigan named Jackie, she was alone on the tour, her husband was golfing. She had done the EPCOT tour the day before while he golfed. Seemed like a good idea, you golf widows should know what I'm talking about.

The tour ends up at conservation station. We headed back to the lodge after this, and to the pool. Oh and this is the day we had BLT's hmmmm good from Roaring Forks.

The quiet pool is not too quiet, but I did fall asleep. Andie went to the beach.

We are already in May so our trip is winding down. :(

Changed and decided to head for Downtown. Bus must have already picked up at FW, because we did not stop there first.

We ate at the Rainforrest, just ok. I think I've had my fill of the Rainforrest, or maybe it was just too loud and crowded. Bought a tee shirt at shop. Went to Christmas tree shop, did not buy anything. I think I'm in a strange tired sort of mood. Nothing much is appealing to me.

We went into Gourmet Pantry, Team Disney, WOD. Bought another CD, and screen saver.

Did have a Hot Fudge Sundae at Ghiradelli's, that was good. I've been dieting, so these ice cream treats are really treats.

Bus back to Lodge, first, no hot tub, no pool, in bed at 11. It's been a long day.

Mousekeeper had the animals in the boats and made a flower with a pretty yellow center. Yellow face cloth at Disney?????

Oh and I'm also collecting pressed pennies this trip. I have Snow White and bought a book.

Tomorrow is Thursday, our last full day. :(
