GAC limits

We found, when we went the end of April, that they were very strict with the numbers written on the GAC. We have two children with GACs and we split up since one wanted to characters with his cousins and the other one wanted to ride roller coasters. We had two GACs but they only allowed us to have 4 people on each GAC since there were 8 of us total. This ment that we were not able to split up very easily since my younger DS wanted to just to roller coasters and my older DS would not do coasters if his life depended on it. My sister needed to keep her 3 with her since they were so young.

I have to admit, this did confuse me as there were several rides where older people in wheelchairs came up behind us and when asked how many in their party they indicated 10 or more. No CM gave them any trouble with that. Now, they did not have GACs just a wheelchair but why is there different limitations on GACs? Just wondering.

That seems really odd to me. I would have expected both of the cards to indicate 6 people (GAC holder + 5) for the very reason you indicated. This is the limit of the number of people that are supposed to be included on a GAC. Next time you go, mention to the CM at Guest Relations when you first get your GACs what kind of configurations of people you do when you split up and I would think he'll mark your GACs accordingly. They really do want people to be able to have a good experience at the parks.

I can't comment on the group of 10 accompanying the person in a wheelchair because I thought that they were subject to the same limitations in numbers as people with GACs.

Yep, all disabled persons with or without a GAc are limited to 5 plus the disabled person. However if there are two or more persons using mobility aids and/or GACS then they could take 10 or even 60 people, lol, but they are supposed to split the party into groups of 6 with one being a disabled person.

Part of it is also CM discretion. There were many times when I let in over the limit if the ride was not busy, particularly if the party was polite. Sometimes if they are the only group using the accessible entrance and the lines aren't long we can make an exception. I am kind of surprisedthey wrote that on your GAC. FWIW, the limit is 6 and if you had taken six people I doubt they would have said anything, particularly if you explained the situation.

My guess is that has happened at times. As for what you saw with the number accompanying a wheelchair, our experience matches the explanation given by Eeyore's Butterfly. Also, there have been times we had a smaller party, but othe people tagged onto our group, making it look like we had more.

LOL, I can't imagine 12 people trying to stay together in WDW, with our without a GAC. We had a hard enough time with 8! It was confusing because the first several days we actually had both boys on the one GAC but it was ok because we didn't realize that my younger DS loved the roller coasters until about the 4th day. It is nice for the CMs to allow people to stay together.

Next time, present yourselves at Guest Relations as two separate parties - one adult with each child.
