I am going to Disney in Oct with my daughter and niece. I have had knee surgery and my fibro is really bad. I am now using a walker to get around. I can walk but can not stand. My niece ended up partially paralized from an epidural and will be able to walk some by then but will also be using a walker. She will be able to do some walking but no standing.
I got a Disablility card at Disneyland Paris in March before my knee surgery but was unsure what to do at Disney World. We only have one day there so would really like to see as much as we can. We know that we will be very slow going but hope to see enough.

Thanks got all the information that I needed except for my disability pariking pass being accepted at Disney. I am from Canada not the States. My Disability parking pass is only obtained from the Government and has to be requested by a Dr. so I am hoping that it will be accepted by Disney. Both my niece and I have one.

This is from Sarasota tax collector web site I know it not near Disney but it the only one that I found that answered it for Canada

Out-of-State Visitors
Florida has an agreement with every state which allows out-of-state permits to be used in Florida. These states also recognize Florida permits along with all Canadian Provinces and Territories except Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

By the way it orange county sheriff that the one who will accept it since they are the ones who enforce the laws and give tickets Disney has no control over that. Have fun on your trip.

1. At Disney World the Sheriff's office will accept any state or province plate or hang tag, as well as the UK Blue Badge and other countries tags.

2. As long as you are using a mobility device (cane up to ECV) you will not need a GAC unless you have another disability not related to mobility or stamina.

Ocso can only accept tags that the state of Florida say it can and it says it can not accept the uk blue TVA that you need to get a temporary tag from the tax office. It says it right on their DMV web site like I posted they accept from Canada except the two at the end. The fine is 250 I don't want any one getting a ticket by listening to the wrong info. I posted the info before if you google the uk blue tag your be told you can't use it since the op states their from Canada you won't have a problem jus make sure it clearly visible.

WDW's response to mobility and stamina issues is to suggest the guest rent an ECV. I suggest both you and your niece look into off-site ECV rentals. You probably should each have one, unless you think you can take turns, but there is a LOT of walking and no way to avoid standing in lines without an ECV. With an ECV you won't need a GAC unless you have other (invisible) needs.
Enjoy your vacation.

as mentioned above, UK blue disability permit for automobiles are accepted in WDW...
however, for people who do not have a blue disability permit (those from countries that don't use the blue disability badge), there is an alternative when parking your rental car..
you will not be permitted to park in the handicapped parking area. To park in that area, you need a blue permit.
But you can park at the beginning of each line in the parking lot - so that you're right by where the tram picks up...
to be able to do that, you need to get a GAC that permits parking at the beginning of the row in the parking lot.

Thanks for the information. I won't be afraid then to use my parking pass then. I usually rent an ECV at Disney because we have no way to get around or the room for it in our room. Since we are only going the one day I am going to see how I am with my walker and if not I will again rent an EVC for the day. I am not sure what my niece is going to do. I am going to talk to her about the EVC for the day.
Does anyone know what we could do with our walkers for the day though if we rent EVC's? Since it will be a bit of a walk to Magic Kingdom we or at least I will need the walker to actually get there. We are only going to MK.

Listen tired of arguing and backing up my claims if guest want to use it I may be wrong the state of Florida DMV might be wrong that okay. I was just trying to keep people from getting a 250 ticket I don't care if you want to get a ticket then go ahead. Maybe they changed the law and didn't update the web site I am going off the stuff I found on more then one web site if you go to the sticky on here it also lead you're what I said. If I am wrong then I am wrong and I apologize I have no problem admiting when I am wrong but for now hav to go off what I see.

Plus a deputy may not ticket you if you have one dose not mean that it not against the law and you won't have one deputy that will ticket you.

Off to research this more because hate one a gov site leads you to belove one thing but reall means another.

you're right - i checked - they've changed the rule yet again...
it seems every few years they change the rule..

i find it an obscenity that they charge money for the temporary badge when brits come with a perfectly legitimate blue badge...

it's really an obscenity for a tourist state to charge handicapped tourists yet more money....
but then again, with all the tourist taxes that florida slaps on top of the high prices charged, it's not really all that surprising..

however, you can use it in WDW....the CMs will let you park...
and if not in the handicapped area (though they do), then at the beginning of each row...

sorry for coming across mean i was just upset at the fact as you said just wish their was a better answer from the state because if you go by the dmv then it make guest from canada needs one to but they don'. and your right they should at least make it easier to get and easier to find out the info like web site and not have to go on the tax office in that county. i agree they shouldn't charge but i guess 15 is really just to cover the cost of the temporary their not going to make that much off it but still think it should be less.

yes your right they can park at the end of the row and listen your right they do let them park in the handicap lot either in medical spot or handicap spots. and you might go your whole time with out getting a ticket but it be that one time you get a deputy that decides to write the ticket.

A GAC is not used for parking.

If you need to park closer to the tram and do not have a handicapped card, you will need to speak with the CM that is directing cars in the parking lot. They will do their best to assist you.

You can also use the drop off points in the parking lots. One person can drop the family off and then can park the car and ride the tram in.

When you rent an ECV from Disney they are glad to store your walker for you and get it back to you when you return the ECV.

The thing is that Disney World is private property and Disney actually pays Orange Country Sheriff's Office to patrol on property. And part of the agreement is that they will accept any apparently valid disabled tag including the UK Blue Badge.

Guest Assistnce Cards were only used inside the 4 Theme Parks.
Apparently they have recently added a new stmp for those who need to park close to the tram stop.

Even if you are not at the front of the row, the tram lets you off at the park entrance the closest compared to the buses and walking from handicapped parking. So, even if not at the front rows, the walking using the regular parking lot and tram may actually be a shorter total distance than parking in the handicapped parking areas.

::yes::
Each park does have a drop off point. Let the CM at the pay station know that you want to drop someone off and thy will direct you.
If you do not have a parking permit or a GAC AND have a mobility device that can't go on th tram, tell each CM directing traffic that you have mobility device and that you do not have a handicapped parking permit.

Keep in mind that they may run out of ECVs to rent if you are needing to rent one after about 10 or 10:30 am.
So, since it is only one day that you plan to go, you may want to just get there early and rent one anyway.

When you rent an ECV from Disney they are glad to store your walker for you and get it back to you when you return the ECV.

Just what I was going to suggest.

Since all the OP's questions have been answered, I am going to close this thread.
