FYI - Westjet Voucher Extension (one last extension, must register)

Today I came across something exciting in my Westjet Rewards account that I thought I would share in case it helps some of you too...

I was logged into the "Account Overview" of my account and noticed on the left side menu an entry called "Voucher Extension". Since I currently have two companion vouchers (one from 2019, one from 2020) that have have been automatically extended until 31 December 2021 and will then expire [likely unused] I was a little but curious... I clicked on it and discovered...

Westjet is offering one last opportunity for extending certain of their vouchers... BUT... YOU HAVE TO REGISTER TO OPT IN !

No WAYYYYYYY!!!! Oh, I LOVE these boards and members sharing info SO much. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! We had 4 vouchers expiring this month and I was so bummed because we have 3 more trips coming up next year and these were just going to go to waste. xoxoxoxo Starwind - you're most definitely a Star (with or without wind)!

I have no idea how recent this is; I did NOT receive an email from Westjet telling me this option exists.

Remember: You have to REGISTER FOR IT, it is NOT automatic.

This is great! We have used one for flights in February - but still had one that was to expire. We thought we would exchange it for a lounge voucher - but if we would have done that, it would expire at the end of the year as well.

I'll have to log in and see if I can change ours...and then convert it into a lounge one for our trip in February.

THANK YOU! I have 4 expiring and have been checking the app daily… guess what? It’s not in the app - I would have NEVER checked the website.

We didn't know either until we were trying to find the insurance part of the card. We thought why not try to redeem a voucher instead of loose it, and take advantage of the lounge. When they replied, that was when we found out that the lounge access would expire when the voucher did.

But this news is a game changer!!!!

FYI, today I received an email from WestJet about this voucher exchange option.

So I am guessing it is new and I stumbled upon it before they sent notifications to people.

So check your emails from WestJet today, if there isn't an email about it already in your inbox I would expect you will receive one in the coming days.

Or you can do as I did and go to the website

UGH. We booked our flights with Delta in late 2019 before we even got our WJ card. Now we have TWO sets of vouchers expiring, but we still have to use up our Delta credits. We could be SAVING over $800 with the vouchers, but instead I'm paying more every time I have to cancel/rebook with Delta. Super frustrating.
