FYI! Ticket Price Increase Rumor

I just bought new APs today. With tax and the 3 dollar shipping I had to pay a little over $714...whew!!! We won't activate ours until June, but at least we will have them. Thanks so much for the alert :thumbsup2

On the member web site I find links to buy a new AP, but not renewal. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Go to the AP site. The number of your pass tells the computer that it's a DVC discounted pass, and you get taken to the proper place to renew it.

My AP expires 10/11 so I was able to renew last night. Total came to 326.76 with tax and shipping.

Mine expires 10/20 and I also renewed today and did will call with a total of $323.76.

I also stocked up on 10 day tickets though... 2 more plain no expiration and 1 more park hopper no expiration. Ouch. But I figure we'll own DVC for many years to come and the tickets won't get cheaper in the future. I like having an inventory of "cheaper" tickets for future use.

Hmmm..hadn't really thought about this. We don't buy APs because we only go once a year, same dates give or take because of school.
Do you buy your 10 day tickets thru Disney or one of the brokers like Undercover Tourist?

My understanding is that the broker tickets are plastic/paper? Do they hold up well?

Thanks!!

Am I the only one who thinks these ticket prices are getting out of control?

Yes, we get a $100 discount on our AP's. But honestly, for what they charge, it is too expensive. We have 2 vouchers that we bought before the last increase. And we have a pretty good inventory of passes. I think those vouchers are our last that we will buy and just do the regular tickets. That means that when we visit we will just do the parks a couple of days.

When we have APs we tend to go into the parks every day, for shorter times. With park hoppers, we just stay a little longer. And we will probably renew our USF/IOA APs. I have 4 vouchers that I bought for $100 for 2 and $85 for the other 2. That is more like it. I can have fun just about anywhere! :yay:

They are getting steep. I mean just $25 away from 100 for a one day ticket.

Very expensive, I stocked up on 10 day no-exps. with water parks. Thanks for the warning!

Does anyone know of an analysis that shows the difference between a 10 day pas and a AP? Is 10 days or more a AP should be purchased?

For the most part, Disney's prices are still on par with other similar recreation offerings.

Look at what concert tickets or tickets to professional sporting events or even movie tickets cost 10-20 years ago vs. today.

Last month I took the family to Cedar Point, a large amusement park in the midwest. For lunch we ate at a Chik-Fil-A branded restaurant in the park. For the family of 4, I bought a salad, sandwich, one order of chicken tenders, two orders of fries and 3 drinks. Cost was $35!!! We've never spent more than $30 to feed the family at a Disney CS restaurant, and that includes getting meals for BOTH of the kids rather than sharing as they did here.

At the very minimum, inflationary increases should be expected each year. It doesn't matter how well the company is doing as a whole. The entire operation of the parks costs more from one year to the next and customers have to bear that cost in the same way that our employers have to pay us more than they did last year. It's a little disappointing that the increase isn't closer to 3-4% but I don't see where we're left with many alternatives. Perhaps there will be a side benefit in the form of lower crowds. :thumbsup2

Well when I compare WDW with USF/IOA, there is a HUGE difference in AP prices. In fact, just recently they had a 2 year AP for $165 thru Costco. Some may not call the parks comparable, but I do!

Guess that goes to show how desperate US is to compete in a market filled with alternatives.

Once the Harry Potter attractions are added I'm sure US prices will jump considerably. It takes money to make money. And still US can only offer half as many parks bundled with their APs.

For whatever reason I am not able to renew my pass. The website says that the tickets I am trying to order are not available. Very strange error, with the only other note saying you can only renew within 30 days of expiration, so I am out my expiration window as my tickets expire 9/9/07. There is no voucher option on a renewal, as far as what I could do. I am a FL resident and tried to renew my Seasonal and that didn't work. I then tried to renew an upgrade to full AP and that didn't work.

Am I missing something?

This is an interesting idea. I am going to look into this today. Our APs will get us thru next Oct. but then we may not need APs for all of us and we can use no exp forever. I need to go to WDW 3-4 times per year for work but as the kids get older they may need to miss a trip or 2 b/c of school acitivities. Thanks for this idea!

"The number of Water Park admissions included in the Water Parks Fun & More add-on will now be tied to the number of days on the ticket. So a 1-Day Ticket with Water Parks Fun & More will include 1 Water Park admission; a 5-Day Ticket with Water Parks Fun & More will include 5 Water Park admissions, etc. In some cases this means fewer water park admissions than before; for others it means more."

If you wait to purchase a 10 day pass you will get 4 extra water park days. The cost for a water park visit is $41.54. 4 x 41.54=$166.16.

I saw that. I just bought the 10 day hopper/plusses/non-exp tickets!! I wonder if the Undercover Tourist people have any refunds!

I buy them through a broker, one of them being Undercover Tourist. The tickets you get are Disney tickets, no different than the ones you get if you guy them at the parks. They are paper, just like park tickets. Yes, they hold up well.

Well, i've been trying to renew my AP's for the lasr 4 hours. The AP site "still" will not let me log on under my name or my DH. Never found the link on the DVC site. Finally called MS, waited forever. I was told that I could renew through them. GREAT. Until I gave her my renewal date. NO! NO! NO! I can not renew b/c it's too early. My pass expires 9/9/07. I told her I knew of a lot of people who were able to do this on-line and she checked with her supervisor. NO again. Then stated that those renewals may not go through!!! I certainly hope this is not true. I think I'm jsut going to give up. Good luck everybody.
