FYI! Ticket Price Increase Rumor

Over on some of the other boards there are "rumors" that ticket prices may go up this coming Sunday. Just an FYI to keep your eyes open.

(I am monitoring because my AP expires 8/9. I will probably just go order a new one since the "renewal" will waste a few months. No trip and no time to go until October!)

Thanks for the heads up. We are going in October but decided to buy them tonight on the DVC Member site and used the Will Call option.

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered mine for my December trip.

About the date, when you exchange the voucher the expiration date is printed on the back. If you don't enter a park until another date, won't the date printed on your pass be wrong if the year actually starts on the other date?

This is what I was thinking, too. My expiration date is on the back of my AP. I had a voucher last year, I went to Epcot guest services and picked up my ticket, now I did go straight into the park, but the expiration date was still on the ticket.

I agree, the MS CM is incorrect. I've been an AP holder for 10+ years and the day you exchange the voucher for the real AP it has that date printed on the back of the ticket. That date is your activation day and a year from that is your expire date. If the PP activate on one day but does not use it until the next day, they will lose a day. But it's all relative since most of us only use our APs a couple of times a year for our multiple trips. I agree that you do need to crunch your numbers to see if a new AP is a better choice than renewing. We always renew because we go the same time each year and our AP always runs out mid-trip.

Just checked: even though my pass isn't due to be renewed until October, the website did give me the option to renew. Though I'm a DVC AP holder, you do have log into the AP website to renew. Once you enter your ID info, it knows you are holding a DVC AP and will offer you the DVC discounted price of $304 to renew your AP. So that pretty much throws the 30 days out the window.

My expires in the middle of Oct trip....I would like to renew now to...please confirm...if I go to the Disney site and enter my AP pass numbers they will let me order NOW. I was told 30days before or 30 days after was renewal date to get discount. Has anyone done this? Thank you. Carol

Well, I just ordered tickets for the family, it had to be done sometime, and I figured before a price increase is a good time:lmao:

I'm going to wait one more day to renew our AP's, I'm hoping my Disney Visa rewards card gets here today. We asked for it with the specific reason to renew our AP's on it.

I didn't complete my order. But did exactly what you want. I expire Oct. 22 and when I logged in under my name it asked do you want to renew. I went through the process and got all the way to the screen to put in my cc. So I'm assuming it would let me do it. I once renewed in early September for a late Oct date which was more than 30 days and did it in person. It wasn't a problem then either. I'm assuming the increase will be about $15-20, so it's worth doing it in advance. However, with that in mind, just because ticket prices are going up, it doesn't mean ALL tickets. I've seen times when APs have gone up and not regular tickets, but do we want to take a chance. I'll be buying by Saturday I guess.

yet another AP purchase 'timing' question.....knowing we will be coming to WDW multiple 'sometime's' during the next 18 mos - but not having any trips actually scheduled yet - i thought it might be a good idea to purchase AP's as christmas gifts for my DW.

is there such a thing as an expiration date on an AP voucher? if i purchased them this week before the rumored price hike, but didn't activate them until - say - next summer or fall (2008), would i have any problems?

There are no expiration dates on vouchers. :thumbsup2

You would have no problem buying them now and holding them until you are ready to use them. The one year usage period would not begin until the voucher is redeemed at WDW.

It might make sense to have actual vouchers mailed to you, though, rather than going with the will-call option. As much as I trust computers, I wouldn't be particularly comfortable using will-call for a voucher that won't be used for a year or more. Get the hard-copy vouchers sent to you and tuck them away someplace safe.

I renewed my DVC Annual pass for $304 plus tax today even though it is good until 9/22/07. The 30 days doesn't seem to matter. (Yeah, like Disney is going to turn down money!)

Better to be safe than sorry since it is renewed as of the expiration date no matter when you renew it. :cool1:

Awesome!! My AP expires October 12/13/14, or somewhere in there. I think I will renew before the price increase!

Thanks for those that figured out it could be done!

Where on the dvcmember site do I go to buy APs online? I have been looking and can't find a link to purchase passes :confused3 . I know it used to be there. Help!

I think it is under Member Perks, the click on WDW and from there you should find it.

This is what I did before LAST years increase . I will be using that voucher in just a couple of weeks. That is if I remember where I safely put it !!! <G>

Thanks so much ...Mine expires Oct 25 and I went into the passholder site like you said and went almost thru to purchase and it worked I think it should work so I will be ordering tomorrow. I'll keep watching for the news about the increase but last year they raised the prices 2X .
has the rumor showed up anywhere semi official yet and what day is it supposed to go in to effect....Sun or Mon? Thanks again. Carol

Hi again, I am away from home but my husband has his AP and I went on line and renewed his and it went thru fine. I think it was 323 or so. I couldn't do mine yet. I saw on the budget board that on Mousesavers that they were going up on Aug 5 but didn't say how much or which ones so Ifigured I had to bite the bullet. Would have rather waited but also don't want to spend extra. Good luck. Carol

Mousesavers is announcing that the ticket prices go up 8/5/07. That did it for me, I renewed our AP's. They expire later this month, and I was going to do it in person in September.

I did receive confirmation from MS that the Disney Visa Reward card that we get can be used for the MF's, so it didn't matter if we didn't have them for this purchase.

Awesome, I will be doing this tomorrow I guess.

Why not save a few $$ and I would have renewed in less than 2 months anyway.
