Yesterday my family and I were at Universal Studios, heading towards the Mummy ride. We had just past Twister and was turning the corner towards Mummy when someones smart phone came flying off of Rip Ride Rocket. The street was pretty crowded but thankfully the phone bounce several times across the concrete and did not make contact with anyone.

Another family picked up the pieces of what was left of the phone. I am just thankful no one was hit with the flying object as I am sure it would have caused a very serious injury.

Please utilize the lockers

People just don't realise that the rules are made for a reason!!

Just glad it didn't collect anyone....especially a little one :confused3

Imagine if it had got stuck in the tracks.....has no one seen Final Destination???!!!!

yep, I was one of those idiots that didn't think my phone in my pocket would go anywhere. Well bye bye iphone....

Now I make sure to put my phone in the locker or leave it with someone who is not riding. Taking an extra 5 minutes at the locker is better than hurting someone or forking over several hundred to replace one again.

That's scary! we always check out the collection of things that the hulk net catches. Never thought about RRR flying items to the sidewalk. Could have done some serious damage.

Good post! :thumbsup2

I am always paranoid about flying objects off of rides. The lockers will be my friend.

I lost my express pass on RRR. Tucked into my bra where I thought it would safe. It flew out on the first turn. I had to go all the way back to the hotel to have it replaced. Now I wear a pair of shorts with a pocket that buttons for the express pass. Everything else gets left with a friend or in a locker.

I always wear shorts that have button pockets when I go to Universal. One time I was riding RRR and didn't have them on, so I just put the phone in my pocket and then kind of situated it to where I was sitting on the phone. It's odd that with the two coasters at the other park that RRR is the one that makes your stuff pop out.

In case that ever happens again, there are kiosks around the parks where they can help you with that. You don't have to go back to the hotel.

How much do the locker cost each time?

For the rides that require all loose items and bags to be locked up ( Hulk, Rip ride rocket, dragon challenge, forbidden journey ,Men in black ,Mummy ) they are free for the length of the ride. There are lockers availble near the water rides, but they are NOT free ( they are not required)

Cargo shorts with secured pockets are the way to go.
