Hi!

DH and I decided to head over th DL last night and try to get on Nemo. We were hoping that if we got in line around fireworks time, we could get on.

As it turns out, they had closed the line 2 hours before park closing because the wait was going to be 2-2.5 hours! The park wasn't even crowded last night. There were very low crowds for Fantasmic etc... So, if you are wondering about Nemo, there ya go! LOL!

We might not even bother again until summer is over.

Wait a minute, didn't we all just recently read that in honor of the YOMD they would be extending park hours an additional 2 hours so that if someone was within that 2 hour mark in line at closing time they would be allowed to remain? Surely they haven't already stopped this special dream benefit . . .

:confused3 :confused3

That's bogus.

So leaving the ride open for 2 - 2.5 hours after closing was only for the first week?

The press release said it was for all summer. Maybe something had happened behind the scenes that day. There's no excuse not to have the line open until 12 LIKE EVERY OTHER ATTRACTION.

That sucks!

Didn't that press release also say that they would have CM's doing games with the crowds and stuff to entertain them? Because there was none of that when we were there.

Hmmmm, I never saw the release you are all talking about.

All I know is that we were there at 9:30 and the line was already closed, with at least a 2 hour wait. The park was closing at 11:00, so as long you were in the line by the time they closed it, you would get on the ride.

Starting June 11, the day the subs resurface, guests will be allowed to join the queue until official park closing and the subs will continue their voyages to find Nemo for up to 2 1/2 hours after park closing....

During the summer months, on average, Disneyland Park operates 16 hours per day. With 2 1/2 additional hours of potential operation each night (17 1/2 hours total per week) for the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Disneyland is offering guests more than an extra day each week to enjoy the attraction.

There's nothing in the press release that specifically says how long they will be doing this, but the second paragraph I quoted certainly implies it will be all summer long. :confused3

This is not their policy and I would have brought it to the Lead's attention, the policy is you can get in line up until 1 minute before park closing, this has always been the policy on ALL attractions.

We were there yesterday too and rode Nemo (IT WAS CUTE!) We were one of the first into the park and still had a 2 hour wait for Nemo-worth it once but we won't ride again until the lines are much shorter.
Anyway, in my 2 hour wait I had alot of time to talk to CM's and I was told that the lines are shortest immediately at opening (it takes about 15-20 mins after opening for the line to reach the 2 hr mark), at lunch for a short time, during the first parade and about 2 hrsz prior to closing.
The lines are the longest 30 mins after opening through lunch then again immediately after the first parade ends. By 1015 when we got to the front of the line they were quoting "4 or more hours" to people inquiring about the wait.
At least 3 of the CMs I spoke with commented that yesterday's crowd was the largest they had seen since Nemo's opening and they were taken off guard. One thought it was larger than the weekend crowd?! I'm thinking everyone got out of school last week and waited for Monday because the crowd would be smaller-but too many of us thought the same way.

Maybe that had something to do with them closing it down early.

They do this with the Princess Fantasy Faire too. They close the line an hour before the attraction closes.

I would guess that if it is a high traffic day in the park, they would keep the ride open after park closing, sort of like how they will sometimes extend park hours if the shops on Main Street are doing well. My guess is that if the park is not doing enough business to compensate, that it's not worth it to pay the employees overtime to keep the ride open after park closing.

On another forum someone believed that the reason for the line closure was because it might have been on a Grad Night. That would make sense to me.

We stood in line a lot longer for the Princess Fantasy Faire..than we did for Nemo..and..it wasn't worth it..The princesses that were there when we were..were the same princesses at Ariel's Grotto..groan....

Well I can honestly hope that next week people are FLOCKING to the characters around the parks :rotfl2:

I've never really understood the popularity with characters (except for small kids), but if it keeps people out of the queues to attractions, I'm all for it.

Monday is also an early entry day for resort guests, so that is why the line was already 2 hours even though you were one of the "first into the park".

Boy, I hope you're right about that! I am planning on trying the "get into line just before the park closes" plan when I go in August--if they're still following the policy LittleWoodenHead posted.

Unfortunately, that's not the case. Sunday the 17th was not a Grad Night. (The only Grad Nights in the past week have been on Wednesday the 13th and Thursday the 14th. There's another one this Thursday, June 21.)

As the OP said, the Park was scheduled to be open until 11:00PM -- it closes at 9:00PM for Grad Night -- yet the Nemo line was closed by 9:30PM.

Well I hope it was something else then. It would be bad if Disney releases this be press release and then doesn't follow through. Sure they never came out and directly said how long they will be doing this, but it wouldn't make much sense to publicise something they were only planning on doing for one week.

I think a lot of people forget that ALL attractions are subject to closure at anytime. Just because they did state in a press release that they will have it open a little longer, it doesn't mean that they HAVE to do it every night...things happen. Anyway, if they didn't advertise it and it was through word of mouth, I bet the majority of people on message boards would be complaining that they should have said something formally like a press release.

Oh I've said that it could have been other circumstances in a previous post. I'm well aware of those things and that can easily be the case here and hopefully it is. The problem would be if this is standard practice for the rest of the summer, with or without technical problems.

I used to flock around the characters when I was young..but back then they were just walking around the park..and NO ONE asked for autographs..all that is new..I can not understand waiting in a long line to get the autograph of someone in a character suit..but..I do it every time I am there..lol
