There is a new dress code being implemented for Angkor Wat in Cambodia. This is an excerpt from an article that was in our local paper today (The article is linked below).

Long Kosal, a spokesman for Apsara Authority, which oversees the archaeological complex, said that beginning Aug. 4, local and foreign tourists will be required to wear pants or skirts below the knees and shirts that cover their shoulders. Those not dressed appropriately will be required to change their clothes before being allowed to enter the temple site in northwestern Cambodia.

Long Kosal said the ban was implemented because “Wearing revealing clothes disrespects the temple’s sanctity.”

Also make sure the pants or skirt is not too tight. Way back in 1995 I went to Thailand and was given a sarong to wear because the leggings I chose to wear that day (while adequately covering everything I was supposed to cover) were too revealing because they were tight.

We are doing SE Asia with another tour company and we were told leggings were okay provided we were wearing a tunic top that came down to mid-thigh.
