Hi Everyone -

Don't know if this was posted yet - but there has just been a Disney Price Increase as follows according to the Orlando Sentinel:

Prices for the Disney Dining plan have increased.

The increases are about 3 percent for adults and 9 percent for children.

The new prices are as follows:

Quick-service dining plans are $44.13 per night for adults and $19.04 for chidlren.

Regular dining plans have gone to $63.70 per night for adults and $22.85 for kids

Deluxe dining plans have gone to $115.08 per night for adults and $35.49 for children.

The prices changes do not affect people who have already booked their plans.

Sorry to hear this also joins the ticket price increases at WDW! :(

Wow! Didn't realize it had gone up so much in the couple years since I've been. That prices me out of ever getting it. At that price, you'd have to get the most expensive meals just to save anything. I just went and prices a few table service and a few counter service places, and even with the most expensive thing on the menu, it still only comes to around $60 for entree/desert/drink. So add in a $6 snack and you're finally saving a couple bucks. Geez.

that's nuts, most kids meals are 7$ max at a quick service.... 2 of those plus a 4$ snack is 18$ per day.... 1$ less than the plan (I know you get the mug, and if the mug worked in the parks sure, but how much time do most people spend at the resort using their mugs.... we don't). For an adult the most expensive quick service are around 20$ but they are few and far between. At least it is possible to come out ahead on the adult one, but the child one is crazy imho.

But now everyone is using child quick-service credits to order adult meals. Once Disney allowed that, we all knew the price had to go up.

This is why I cruise. $115 for the deluxe dining plan??? We pay about $170/person/night for our Disney cruises and that includes accommodations and entertainment.

It never worked out as a savings for me anyway so *shrug*. Only time I ever had the DDP on a reservation was with a free dining bounce back and since it was at POFQ, a discount is a discount lol.

We usually catch free dining, but have gone several times paying for a DDP. It worked out for where we want to go, and it's just a lot easier. However, looking at the new prices it doesn't make sense. You don't have to pay for the cup more than once, so I knocked $20 off the top of the dining cost. I'll get one anyway, because I like them. When I did that, then took the total cost for 5 days on the plan (I used the counter service plan) was $200.65. Came to $40.13/day.
Figuring an average of $10 for a typical counter service meal and $5 for a snack it was $25/day cash food. So, a cash plan is $75.62 cheaper. Theoretically, I have plenty left over for a couple of tables, which is good since I mostly got the DDP for the character meals anyway.

Sorry about the #'s, it helps me get it straight in my head. No more DDP being paid for here! No more having to turn in leftover meal credits for snacks at the end of the trip.
