FYI....child safety

Our 2.5 yr old loves the interactive water fountains at Downtown Disney but they are extremely dangerous. When wet, the cement floor is like ice and our 2 yr old cracked her face on the ground, followed by 2 other children also getting hurt. A 10 yr old girl fell really hard and smacked her head on the ground.... she was quite stunned for a while but did go back and play again.
If you do intend to let you kids play there, you need to really get on them NOT to run as they can really get hurt.
I also contacted Disney about this stating it was a lawsuit in the making!

I hope your daughter is alright. I felt so bad to hear of your daughter and the pain she must have felt and I can relate because I have a DD,5 and a DS,3 who love water and when we went to DTD, it was December and at night so they didn't do much playing in the water.
Hopefully Disney will take your warning seriously!

A nice big bruise on her cheek bone and a 10 minute cry.... but she did go back to play as well. I just stood close by and kept reminding her not to run.

I'm glad to hear she was OK.

Do you mind if I ask -- what kind of shoes was she wearing or was she barefoot? I've been reading a lot about the slippery surfaces by some of the fountains/water play areas and frankly I'm getting very nervous.

I try not to be too paranoid on vacation, but this is a recurring issue lately. I was thinking that the wet/dry sandals might be a good solution. Anyone?

I would hope water shoes would be ok... if not I have to find something else to buy them before our trip.
