Perhaps this is old news to AP holders except myself. If you are entering the park with an AP, you do not need a handstamp to reenter. I was discouraged by two different park employees on two different days from entering with a handstamp as an AP holder.

This is nice because you don't have to wait in the Exit with Handstamp line.

True but you have to watch out for very busy days because sometimes they do require APs to get hand stamps. They put up (small) signs by the entrance if they want everyone to get handstamps.

Yep. We always get hand stamps just in case...plus the kids like the stamps.

I've never seen a sign, but I've had to get a handstamp twice as an AP holder. Once during a March trip, and once last year on Columbus Day weekend (while entering DCA!).

I don't get why they would get mad if you had a handstamp. I'm an AP & always get a handstamp bc I think they're cool & I love seeing them glow on dark rides. I've never had a problem re-entering the parks.

I agree with the PP, they are fun to get.

But where you OP, just notified you don't need one, or warned that you shouldn't? Perhaps they want to let you know as to make the exit quicker for everyone.

I've heard it both ways from the CMs.

Sometimes I don't need one and others it is a must get one even with an AP. *Shrug*

We were actually spoken to very very firmly by a CM when entering DL after spending the morning in CA for NOT having gotten a hand stamp. It was a very slow day and we even offered to walk back over to CA and get a stamp. The CM said very snidely, "I'll make an exception for you THIS time but NEVER again." We thanked the CM profusely since this was our first day with an AP and we were rookies! :rolleyes1 Now we always get one just to be on the safe side. We know we will NEVER be allowed in without one again!!! *giggling softly*

We always get them too.

Is it just me...or does anyone else like the smell of the stamps too? ;)

What? You got yelled at? Why in the world would you need a handstamp with an AP unless the park was in danger of being closed for capacity? Even then, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't let you back in!

Just also agreeing about very busy days. I have seen the signs, and have experienced days where it was so full that they had to close the park early to new arriving guests, and on busy days AP holders are encouraged to get stamped to prove that you are not just arriving.

Plus you'll get to sniff your hand right after and get that Disney handstamp buzz!

During the holidays all AP holders will have to have a hand stamp.

Is this new for this year?

We had AP's for 2 years, we went monthly (at least) during that time and we only had to have our hands stamped once during those 2 years. AP holders do not need a hand stamp unless the sign is up. And let me tell you, if a turnstile CM yelled at me for not having a hand stamp I would have spoken to his supervisor right away......that's inexcusable!!

Not needing a hand stamp with an AP is not a new thing. :)

That happened to us once, when we decided we didn't need a stamp because we had our ap's, and wanted to go from one park to the other with our AP's...they thought we were lying or something!!!But they decided to let us in and told us to always get a stamp no matter what!!!!

THe way this came up is I was worried after swimming, then showering, that my stamp had worn off, so I had my AP out to try to explain/etc the situation. The first CM was at Disneyland and told me "You don't need handstamp with AP."

The second time was similar, but this time we were re-entering DCA and there was a line, and the CM was somewhat annoyed when she said, "AP don't need handstamps."

Interesting that others have been told different things. I wish DL could decide which way its going to be. I guess I'll have to continue standing in line for the stamp, and then worrying its going to wash off.

(The first day I was worried there was only a tiny speck of yellow still on my hand what with sweat, sunscreen, swimming, and a shower so I think my worry that it can wear off is reasonable)

I see, it sounds like the CM was mostly trying to inform but really trying to keep the line going.

In regards to not being left with a lot of ink: I am wondering if you can find a florescent yellow marker that will flooresce properly you could smudge you hand a bit and just say you were in the pool and showered, or you wash your hands a lot. I've defintely reentered with nothing readable on my hand.
