I have been to this port on other cruise lines, and you must take a tender to shore...Not sure if i had seen this mentioned on the board or not. Anyway, the Cayman corals and reefs are protected. It will take about twenty minutes one way to tender to the ship to dock. You might want to keep this in mind when making plans about arriving and departing from the ship...

Do you know where on the island they tender in to? Is it close to any beaches? I can't wait until the first cruise goes western so we can get all the details.

This is not DCL related, but - has anyone ever vacationed in Cayman before(not just a day on a cruise)? We are looking at a week long vacation next year...somewhere tropical, beautiful beaches and great snorkeling. I've always heard great things about Cayman Islands, but have heard it is pricey. Any info or recommendations would be appreciated. Also heard Cancun would make a nice week trip.

I spent a week there for my honeymoon about 12 years ago and all I can say is that it was incrediable for diving and snorkeling....It was extremely clean and the natives of the island we very welcoming....I think we stayed at the Hyatt...which is actually across the street from the beaches but it was beautiful....I would recommend it to anyone...

My DW and I went to Grand Cayman in Feb. 2000 on the Celebrity Mercury. We tendered into shore at that time too. We docked in Georgetown for the day. There is shopping, restaurants, etc. near the docks. I am not sure if that is where the Magic will make anchor and tender into shore. I sure hope so!

We did the Stingray City excursion and were transported from the dock area to the excursion boat. It was a beautiful island, one of our favorite stops on that cruise which went to Key West, Cozumel, Cancun and Grand Cayman.

Hope this helps a bit. Enjoy your cruise and your time at Grand Cayman.

Seven Mile beach is beautiful. I have also been to Cancun. We go there more often because is it a lot less expensive, but nothing beats Georgetown, Grand Cayman.

There will be taxis lined up and down the streets by where the ship will probably tender.

Please remember that i am basing tender experiences from Carnival and NCL, but i am sure that Disney will handle tendering in the same way, and in the same area.

Cayman is beautiful. There isn't much to do other than sleep, sun, dive/snorkel, and eat/drink. There is Hell and a turtle farm and there is a golf course. It is very americanized. It has the fast food burgers and I think subway. The is a local hang out for divers and divemasters call Lonestar that has awesome tex-mex food. They used to have a good fudge brownie sundae--MMMMM.

We have stayed at the Villas of the Galleon and loved it. They are condos you rent and are right on one of the widest beaches on one end of 7 mile beach. If you are staying a week, you can save a little money by doing a condo and buying food. It is expensive. Also, I believe they still do the money exchange in such a way that no matter what money you give them, they give you cayman. I haven't been to the island in a few years and that was on a live-aboard dive boat.

Don't forget to try the Tortuga Rum Cakes. They are heaven. I have brought 6 back onto cruises before only to finish off 3 before the end of the cruise.

Enjoy!
