Tow-Mater,
I don't have a picture of the lanterns but there are drawings of the 4 styles of crossing signs used on the FWRR in David Leaphart's excellent reference, "Walt Disney Railroads Part 1 Fort Wilderness Raiload"
https://www.amazon.com/Disney-World...qid=1414726091&sr=8-2&keywords=david+leaphart . I consulted my copy and found them on page 107.
Here is a close-up of the lanterns on the right hand sign.
The Part 2 accompanying volume which has photos (Photo Galleries) is something I can't help with. I have a first edition that is only 57 pages long. There are one or two photos that show the lanterns on the crossing signs but they are far away and grainy. After the book was initially released, more people came forward with pictures and the current version of the book has 148 pages so if someone has a more recent addition they might have better luck.

The ones in the photos I saw did have the red glass like the ones in the close-up drawing.
Hope this helps. So how much confidence do you have in its pedigree? There must be more to the backstory of how the lantern went home...
