Future of the DVC Show

As someone who joined DVC 2 years ago after being tired of COVID lockdowns and cash to burn, the DVC Show was my first real exposure to DVC outside of all of Disney's marketing materials. Never watched any of the other Dis shows prior, but I got hooked on the content and the rich discussions about the resorts and the possibilities of having affordable options to staying at places that always felt out of reach. It made us research DVC as much as possible to see if it was good fit for me and my new family. Long story short, the show is one of the main ways in how we learned about DVC and of the primary reasons why we joined (it's how we also learned about disboards and the wonderful DVC community here!).

Given all the recent changes to the show, I just wanted to give kudos to @pkrieger2287 and @Amy Krieger. I know I've been pretty critical of the show in the recent past and how it's essentially turned into yet another marketing arm for the World of DVC, but some of the episodes after the transition in ownership looks like you're taking the criticisms seriously and are dedicated in ensuring dvcfan and the show will provide independent/objective/unbiased content. All that being said, it'd be great if we could have an avenue (perhaps this thread?) for suggestions for new episodes, information that might be useful to members, etc. Forgive me if this is already a topic on the dvc fan FB group, I've tried looking for the group several times in the past, but I keep getting errors stating "This content isn't available right now. When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted."

Agree, I have responded on YouTube but a dedicated thread on The DIS would be great! We are not on FB, Instagram, Threads, and will never join the Zuckerberg empire!

Good to hear! Agreeing with some of the sentiments expressed by the OP and timeframe post COVId in buying into DVC in 2021. I found the “old sponsor” DVC era content pretty good and informative, but as it progressed into the “new era”, I found it more lacking (especially the “crack dealer” comments being cringey) that my wife would no longer watch it with me. So stopped altogether -

Thanks OP, maybe it’s time to give the show a new watch to see how it’s progressed in the “new new era” - there is a definite gap in content overall on DVC and trust with an investment in this direction is really important!

Since World of DVC now owns the show, I'm not sure it makes much sense to post about the show here.

However, I agree with your sentiments. I like the new direction of the show under Paul and Amy and look forward to seeing some "fans" show up on the show and the Krieger's filming around property instead of just four talking heads.

For those that don't know, World of DVC also has its own show with Marissa, Derek and Kerri. It comes out monthly and is a combination variety show/resale market update.

I also 100% agree with open and honest feedback, suggestions, and criticism. One of my core beliefs is that if we do not constantly evolve and grow to better ourselves and the work we do, we can become stagnant and complacent, losing touch with both the product (DVC) and our audience.

If there could be a topic or discussion for an upcoming show, I would love to see opinions whether using more points for a "preferred room" is worth the extra points. I have been in debates with family whether we should just stay in Standard views vs preferred views if you are never in the rooms to begin with. I own at AKV and would rather take the chance at getting a nice view with the value rooms vs getting a dedicated savannah view because you can quickly go to any lookout. I also own at SSR and on our last trip stayed in Grandstand, I wished I would have paid more points because we went to DS multiple times during our week stay and that walk is about 30 minutes for our family.

I like this idea. We snagged Lake View Grand Floridian one-bedroom this past December, no “cheap” views available, and ended up loving it and thinking it was a happy accident. I’m cheap on views, and often prefer them at Riviera, and I think I would prefer garden views at BW for more quiet, but AK and BLT and Aulani, GCV, worth an up charge, no?

Shoot me a message and I would be happy to investigate. In some instances our AI Admin Assist blocks users if they have a relatively new profile or fail to answer the required questions to join.

Just speaking for our family, I do all the planning and my husband just asks what time to take off work.
