Future of Future World at Epcot?

I don't think so, unfortunately it is a simulator depending on your viewpoint on that. Personally I think it might be an easy carry over

Hey, if it's done right, then, I'm on board! It's just so sad seeing Future World the way it is now. Mostly just get excited for Spaceship Earth and Club Cool at this point. I'm reallllly hoping they do something with Mission: Space. That is the only attraction at Disney that makes me feel not so hot after riding. :faint:

Even though not everyone loves the ride, the after area feels like it is a great start to the old pavilion style attractions. A few more sections about space in general could be interesting, especially blended with the video games and stuff that is already in there. So many of these pavilions are a good start, if they just added a little more. Test Track is actually fairly well done in that sense except for the fact that it feels like a commercial the whole time. Of course, my kids could spend hours doing all of the different things in there, including just sitting in the model cars.

This is a really great thought.

The fact that they're not out there busting their cans to renew or find new sponsors and fresh ideas for Future World makes me tend to agree with lockedoutlogic. That is, Disney management is so obsessed with "money for nothing" business deals like plastic souvenirs, alcohol and timeshares that they've become cynical to the point of being grossly negligent about Epcot's role as a kind of cultural and technological counterbalance to the cartoon and fantasy-based Magic Kingdom.

Go ahead and add Ratatouille and Mary Poppins rides to Epcot ... put cartoon and comic book IP into every single pavilion ... make the whole thing Magic Kingdom II.

But then watch families debate like this: "OK, Epcot is a lot like Magic Kingdom and it has a new "The Incredibles" ride this year in the German Pavilion. We can do a princess dinner next door. And it's easy to see the fireworks from in front of the Aladdin boat ride. How about we only do Star Wars Land and Epcot this year and visit Universal, Sea World and the beach for the rest of the week?"

The strong difference in theme, feeling and type of attractions between the 4 parks is a lot more important than Disney thinks. Families make all kinds of compromises to keep everyone happy, MK for the tots, AK for the animal lovers, Epcot for the science and culture vultures, DHS for ... the people who like to finish a park day in under 3 hours. I don't think they're going to get MK-style pops in attendance if they aim to have 4 MK-style parks.

It's just like when you have bids put in to renovate your house ... each contractor will offer you a couple tiers - generally it's "Good", "Better" and "Best", and you have to decide the scope of work that you feel most comfortable with spending AND possible ROI.

From what I've heard, "Best" is still VERY MUCH on the table for Epcot and is in play - just a few factors need to fall into place (sponsorships, etc.) to ultimately make it feasible. You know, some real "shoot for the stars and you'll land in the clouds" kind of things.

That would be nice! Get some fresh ideas back in there! I actually really miss Innoventions because I'm a hands on person, I like to touch and explore things. Hopefully everything comes through and brings it back to it's prime!

I have no idea if this is even plausible, but I've posted the below in several different threads over the last several months:

I still contend that Innoventions at a minimum could be easily resolved by approaching a myriad of companies; Apple, Tesla, SpaceX, the Hyperloops, Virgin Galactic, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, Google, IBM, Intel, etc, etc

I realize some are more flush with cash than others and perhaps I'm too optimistic. Get one in and I think others will want to follow, if done properly. SpaceX/Virgin Galactic overlay of Mission Space? I could see Facebook being integrated with Spaceship Earth on your return trip, linking it to your account and seeing some type of info on the globe (where your picture is now) when you exit? Bring back Wonders of Life with some biotech/healthcare overlay?

I really didn't even touch much on healthcare, nanotech, etc, all of which could be incorporated into FW.

The reason that Epcot is my family's favorite WDW park is that it IS NOT MK II. It counter balances the fantasy, Disney movie based attractions in MK perfectly. Maybe i'm in the minority, but I don't think that every land in the World Showcase needs a somewhat or dimly related ride. I would rather see a movie or a unique live show based upon something in the country's culture, like the "flag guys" in Italy.

And, i'm really concerned about the current trend to "Star Wars Land" or "Toy Story Land." Imagine how MK would be if you had Peter Pan Land or Stitch Land instead of Fantasyland or Tomorrowland? Even though we don't ride 7DMT in Fantasyland or Space Mountain in Tomorrowland, there is still other attractions that aren't related that we do enjoy and ride each time we go to MK.

IMHO, I really believe Disney is having a "crisis of creativity." They don't know what to do with the parks or what direction to go. Epcot especially. I personally think FEA would have been a better fit at MK or DHS than at Epcot, but look for more of the same in the future in the rest of the World Showcase countries. I'm afraid that you are right, Epcot is going to be gradually dragged into an MK II theme instead of Epcot. And, I will hate it.

Keep the rides out of the World Showcase, and add more cultural exhibits and attractions. And in Future World West and East, add more science based attractions and rides. There's so much they could do if they would think about it.

Off my soapbox (for now)......

You don't think they're going to revamp or change anything?

I didn't say that. I think they're rehashes, and an easy way out to rumor monger.

Ideas within Disney never die.

True. But not as much with recent suspected ideas. They seem to be digging a bit back in the archives for ideas lately. Orange Bird, Alpha Centauri Tours, Figment merch., etc.

Per Martin - 18 projects in total(not all rides ...) and he was pretty confident in 11 of those 18. That to me is very, very significant.

As for DHS, budget has not changed, but we are getting 2 new lands, and some added features as well, granted not the 3 major lands first proposed.

but you have a good point, until we see it actually happening, who knows what we will, and what we will not see.
Off topic, but what was the 3rd land at DHS going to be??

They are out of shovels at the moment, but nice to see they are down to one park to go, IP related or not.

Oh to heck with it...never mind :bored:

There was one poster, can't remember who, that said there was a chance at an announcement in Oct. No idea if this is legit or not.

Well, October 1st is the 35th anniversary of EPCOT and I know D23 the club is planning some sort of event for it - so perhaps the news could come out there rather than the D23 event in the summer
