Today I substituted for a 6th grade class. I was taking attendance for one of my classes and came across this students name... Barry Williams!

Yes, Barry Willlams. I said to the student, hey you have a famous name! I then laughed and showed him my name tag which has my first name (Cindy) on it. I made a comment like we have the same namesake or something like that. And for me that is true, I was named after the Brady Bunch...

This student just stares at me. I then realize that he doesn't know. I then say a 70's show.. he's thinking That 70's show.. and I say no, a show that was on during the 1970's..

He still looked puzzled and then I said you have the same name as the person who played Greg Brady on the Brady Bunch.. Yet another blank stare. I then said, never mind!

I felt really old today!

:rotfl:
I remember when DD was about 13 I mentioned that Chicago was coming to town and would love to see the concert. She looked at me and said "Who's Chicago?"

i felt realy old one day in my 20's (about 20 years ago). i was teaching a 5th grade class and we were discussing rock bands. i mentioned the beatles and they looked at me with blank stares on their faces. finaly one kid says "i know who the beatles are", i say "great, tell us about them". his reply? "they were paul mccartney's back up band before he started "wings"". :rotfl2:

My favorite is a young gal who approached me one morning at work with, "Did you know that Steve Martin used to do stand up comedy?" NO WAY!!

The other day, my DD and her friend (both 15), and my DS (12) were totally fascinated by the high tech equipment in my mother's house...a record player! They recorded a song from an old album of mine (The Chipmunks :earseek: ) on their cell phones. LOL

It always makes me feel old when I think about the fact that, when I sold Girl Scout cookies, they cost 40 cents a box.

My favorite was when my kids were younger and asked me if I was alive in the 70's? I replied yes, I was born in the 50's. They looked shocked and couldn't even imagine that long ago. :rotfl2: Debby

Thats ok, DD6 asked me if we had cars when I was a little girl, or did I get to ride a horse. (I had just made her watch an old Lassie movie and she was SHOCKED that people had to live that way)

She was very confused when I found my box of cassette tapes and played them on my old recorder. She thought they sounded horrible.

Stop it already! Don't you know that 40 is the new 30?!?

"Ooh my nose!" (as she searches for simile of football in motion).

Too funny!!

A couple of Christmases ago I was playing charades with some of my young (teen/early college) relatives. My card said "The Karate Kid" so I pantomimed the ol' "wax on, wax off." They couldn't figure it out. I did some karate chops. Still no clue. Finally they gave up and I said, "Here, I'll give it away...WAX ON, WAX OFF." They just stared at me blankly. And I felt old!
