furniture--Birch Lane or Walmart?

I am finally ready to furnish the living room in my new townhouse--we have been living here for 3 months with nothing in the living room but a computer desk (and a Christmas tree). Anyway, we don't use the living room much as a family, except to play video games, so I don't really want to spend a bunch of money on furniture, especially since I don't really care for this place and I'm planning to move when my lease is up. I really just want a love seat and a couple of accent chairs so I can offer people seating when they come to visit because it's embarrassing to have people walking into my empty living room. And I want lightweight, easy to move furniture that will last at least a couple years.

So I'm looking at Birch Lane right now, they are having a sale with an extra 15% off and free delivery. They have a number of inexpensive sofas and love seats that are light weight and have great reviews. I've also found a couple on Walmart.com that seem fine, they are like $100 cheaper but there aren't many reviews. Has anyone purchased couches online? What do you think?

This is one of the couches that I was looking at at Walmart:

We just bought furniture for our family room. I looked at several things online, but I'm glad we bought in the store. We found a couch we really liked at Big Lots, of all places. It was a brand we had heard of and very inexpensive (less than $400), but they only had the floor model left, so we didn't buy it. We ended up with couch and love seat from a small family-owned furniture store in our town.

google search the couch-i just found a bunch of reviews on it.

personally i won't do large furniture orders on-line b/c i want to sit on it/look at it, and if there's a problem with it then they tend to charge for returns.

i have the almost identical chair (different fabric) in my guestroom-pretty comfortable.

And here's the ottoman I picked out from Birch Lane, but I'm disappointed because it doesn't go with the accent chair. I picked it out to go with the sofa but it clashes with the Walmart chair :(

Glad to hear about the chair! It has surprisingly good reviews for something so inexpensive, and it's pretty. If I'm only spending a couple hundred dollars on a sofa I wouldn't return it, we will just make-do with whatever we get, but I will search for reviews, thanks.

they cost a bit more but amazon carries the mainstays brand so you might be able to find a fabric to go with the ottoman.

I have ordered chairs from birch lane and love them. Delivery was easy, I just unpacked the box outside and brought in each piece and set it up. They are nice quality and very light weight.

I do love that couch you posted. I am toying with getting one. It is a great price

If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me your opinion on the size of the chair from Walmart? My teenage son is 6'1" and still growing. Would this chair be big enough for him or would it be uncomfortably low? I'm thinking the chair that I picked out might be too small for him, I may end up getting bigger chairs.

go with a bigger one. i'm 5'5" and it's fine for me but much taller and it wouldn't be comfortable.
