I'll be running in the Princess 1/2 marathon, and it'll my 1st 1/2 marathon. I've did the royal family 5k last year with my best friend and had an amazing time! But other then that I've only done a few other local 5ks 10ks.... Well this year I couldn't find any friends brave enough to join me in the 1/2 marathon. But have a bunch of family and friends that are coming to cheer me on... I've been holding out til this race to have my family come out and watch me run in a race... And I was wondering what are some ideas to help family/friends be able to spot you easier... I stay up all hours of the night and youtubed and gotten several ideas.... Balloons... Costumes... Crazy hats... One guy made a hat with a doughnut hanging off a string in front... haha! I usually just wear yellow, like ELECTRIC yellow cause its not everyone's first choice... But I was curious if anyone else had any ideas? My mom wants to have everyone in my "cheersquad" wear matching"team B-money" shirts so I see them and make spotting me easier (somehow).... So before we embarrass my entire group any ideas? Or any other funny ideas to laugh about and share?

Hey, not sure if its happening for the Princess, but for the marathon weekend they had text message tracking so your fans had an idea when you were coming. I wouldnt do anything to large or cumbersome as you'll be carrying it for 13 miles. The best thing is to wear a bright color, like the electric yellow. Try not to stick with the very standard whites/blacks. For the most part the course for disney wasnt too crowded, by the time you got to the good chearing sections it was a fairly light crowd so they could see you pretty well. If you're planning on passing htem while its still dark out, a small LED bracelet might do wonders.

For the fans balloons and posters work well as markers. but any group of people in a color standing near each other will stand out.

If you want to make sure you spot family on course, having them hold a large mylar balloon would make it easy. I've seen this a few times in races. At the LV Marathon, a family member was holding a large Mickey mylar balloon at different points on the course for their family member running.

For the family to see you easier, any sort of princess costume or Disney themed costume would be good. I actually made a hot pink tutu out of tulle and elastic to wear over my running gear. It's pretty bright and hard to miss.
