Even in NY they have a limited range of vision. I was born in New York state in the North Eastern corner of NY about 25 miles from the Canadian border. New York City people are constantly referring to Upper New York State, but the one they are talking about is hardly the real one. They are talking about Long Island, Hudson Valley and the Catskills. which is a long, long way to the actual Upper New York State. They never mention the real upper part and as far as that goes they don't mention western NY either.
