Note, I was talking about in my post being in a 100 db (that's LOUD!!! if you don't know what that is) noise all day long for 8-12 hours a day. Everyone walks up to you and mumbles as if we're sitting in a quiet office and now everyone is muffled further with the masks. You can't wear hearing aids to help you in that environment, especially when it's required to have ear plugs in. Because of 25 years of it, yes, I have a difficult time hearing you call out to me if I don't know and also usually outside of work when there's normal background noises have to have you repeat because so many people mumble when they talk. My comment was on the background music meme and my comment was mainly about how I don't even listen to music in the car because when I'm not at work in constant extreme noise, I don't want background music, I want quiet. If you are not going to use them you are throwing away money anyway. Compare it to buying a Rolls Royce and then never taking it out of the garage. If you do lose them you will end up doing exactly what you are doing now anyway. I can't speak for others but I know what it is like to have to constantly have to repeat my questions because the person couldn't hear me. It is frustrating because you have missed a lot of important things that others get really tired of repeating over and over again. It even annoys me when I have to ask people to repeat because I couldn't hear what they said. But, that is your choice, of course, but don't be surprised if people start to avoid you because of it. I've seen that happen and even felt like doing that in the past.
My daughter (who was homeschooled!) sent me this.
