HELP!
Ok - I have been craving a funnel cake. I bought a kit with the mix. Here's the problem - I can't make the shape! I have the ring but as soon as I pour in the mix, it spreads out and I just get a gooey "cake". Whan am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Just guessing here since I can't see what you are doing...

1. Make sure the oil is the right temperature before you begin to drizzle in the batter. If it's too cool, the edges of the batter won't crisp quickly enough as it hits the oil.

2. Don't use too much batter. Less is better, in a very thin stream. It will puff. Leave gaps of space where the hot oil can bubble up.

3. Gently and quickly drizzle the stream of batter in a zigzag or circular pattern into the hot oil. If you don't move the stream enough, the batter will fall into a larger, thicker layer in one smaller area. HTH!

Pour the batter into the circle through a small funnel. It will cause the batter to flow slowly and smoothly.
This is how it's done at the amusement park here.
Have fun!!!
