I have been asked to participate in a "Funky Fashion Expo". Each person will wear fad clothing, but not the actual garb...you have to create the item in the literal sense of the words. For instance: bell bottoms - they are sewing bells to the bottom of pants. Another gal is wearing a turtle neck by cutting a turtle from a foam visor and attaching mini plastic turtles. Another is a t-shirt - tea bags all over a shirt. Get the idea?
Well, I do get the idea, but I can't think of anything that's easy to create! My DS said a poodle skirt...."sew a bunch of poodles to a skirt". Nice idea, but where would I find poodles to sew on? Too expensive, too labor intensive.
Do you have any inexpensive and easy to create ideas?

HMMM.... I love challenges like this. OK off the top of my head...(and some internet research)

How about a crop top (dating myself here)---scrapbooking stuff all over a shirt.?
Maybe a pair of leg warmers---some heat packs, like the kind used for camping ?
Slippers--banana shoes?
Tie Dye---a bunch of ties with faces where the eyes are "x" ed out(like in cartoon when they are unconsious)
Bugle beads---self explanatory...LOL
Batwing sleeves---another self explanatory..LOL
Camel Hair---barettes made of camels
Pinstripe---a suit jacket with safety pins in lines down it
Spaghetti straps---hmmm....tough one....maybe straps made out of raw pasta glued onto an existing strap of some made out of the boxes somehow????
Chandelier earrings---you could use pics of them printed off the net and mounted on cardstock
Beater shirt---various mixer parts sewn onto
Cargos--matchbox toy cars attached to pants
Floods--short pants with some waves and Noah's Ark sewn to the bottoms
Newsboy cap---hat made out of newspaper (p.s.--they were flat caps worn in the 20's by newboys)

Hope this helps. I LOVE to do costumes and such and usually have a low budget so I have to be creative...LOL

OH on your poodle skirt you could use fun foam(cheap, easy, and removable)
