That is probably a good thing. It does pay very well though. Of course, each day that a prison guard goes to work, it is if they too are in prison. It can get ugly, really fast, when a riot is just about to begin. A really good friend of ours, Paul Krasnes, who was working on the same day as my father, was murdered during the Jackson riot that took place on August 21,1971. There was a hit list of guards. And my father was on that list. Our friend was not, to the best of my knowledge. The hits were suppose to take place on the guards next shift. But it occurred sooner, instead. This day was suppose to be Officer Krasnes day off. But had agreed to work it instead. Our friend had a wife and two little girls. He was all set to retire very soon. And he and his family were going to move to Mexico to open their own business. All of that went to the way side, that day. Because a prisoner used a homemade weapon, to cut his throat. He bled to death. There was no way that our friend could have seen that coming. His widow was never the same after his murder. And she would live not all that long thereafter. She was a great person, as was her husband. And they have awesome children.

That's part of why I don't want DBF to become a police officer, but he is seriously thinking about it. I would support him of course but I would hate to lost him on the job like that.
