I decided to tell my niece that we're going to WDW as one of her Christmas presents. This way, she can start gearing up (we go in May), and, as someone here suggested, WDW is easily used as a bargaing chip!! :rotfl: Clean your room or you will not be seeing _______ or riding ______. :lmao:

So, does anyone have any fun ideas on how to tell her?

I thought about getting a princess calendar and stickers to do a countdown. I also thought a shirt saying "Surprise! We're going to Disney World!" Or maybe an invitation from the princesses.

I've actually said to DS2 "We're going to Disney World!" But he has no clue what I'm talking about. :rotfl:

So, give me your suggestions!!:wizard:

We just returned from our surprise trip and we sat the kids down and told them that we wanted to give them their Christmas present early. I told them that they had asked Santa for everything I wanted to buy them and so I was out of ideas. I told them that I wanted to do something very special this year because they had been so good and we finally made a decision. Then I told my DD to read the cards I had printed, "We are going to Disney World." She is just learning to read, so I had to keep it simple. They were so excited, they couldn't even believe it! We left for our trip about an hour later. You will probably get lots of ideas here. Good luck!

Yeah, my niece is learning to read, as well, so I kind of want to do something and watch her sound it out then see the look on her face!! :goodvibes

We did this for Christmas one year to surprise the kids with a Disney Cruise. We wrapped up a box that contained a bathing suit for each of them on top, a Disney cruise brochure was next and at the bottom was a certificate that said we're going on a DC with the date as well as the names of the other familiies who were going with us. It was a great surprise!!:wizard:

Five months is a long time to wait for a Christmas present. I only told my oldest (10yob) in advance and waited until 4 days before we left to tell the other three. The calendar counting that is going on right now for Christmas tells me I made the right decision for my kids.

We're going to Disneyland for a surprise 4 day trip, we probably won't tell anyone where we're going until we get in the car.

That won't be a problem for her. She loves anticipation!! She made a paper chain for her countdown to Kindergarten...get this...the day she started Pre-K!! She's pretty mature for her age. That's why I thought of the sticker countdown. Also, I want her input on what she wants to do while we're there, you know? And this way she won't spend the $200(!!!) Disney gift card she's getting for Christmas before we leave!!

I made a sweatshirt for my step-granddaughter and she will get it for Christmas, she has no idea and for my 8 year old great nephew, I wrapped a bag of goodies that he will need for our trip...and as he unwrapped them he thougth they were for gym at school:) Finally at the bottom of the bag, I had a can with Mickey's on it and I wrote, Peyton's Disney fund...I love the picture...he was so excited..

We used Fortune Cookies to announce our surprise trip. :upsidedow Hmmmm, not too Christmas-y though. :rolleyes1

I just read on another board that the parents got a Mickey balloon and tied the tickets to the strings, put the balloon in a box and wrapped it. When the kids unwrapped the box and opened it, the balloon floated out with the surprise attached to it! I thought that was a neat idea.

My dd is 3, so we have to spell things out for her. I had already used my Disney Rewards $ to order some Disney clothes for all 3 of us. I also picked up a Disney game and a color wonder market set with the princesses to keep her busy on the plane, some glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces, umbrella's and ponchos, and I got her the plush Minnie. She brings her on every trip and lost her, so I replaced her. I got her the plush of June form Little Einsteins too. She is just starting to like them. I will put all of this stuff in a big huge box and make it a gift from Santa to the whole family. On top of all the "stuff" we need for the trip will be a paper chain to count down the days. Each day is labeled with "__ more days!" and a Disney sticker. I also have a few balloons and some curling ribbon to put on top to make it more magical. Then I got a Christmas card at the Hallmark store that has Tink. When you open it, it sings, "You Can Fly" from Peter Pan. In there, I will put a note from Santa explaining everything since she is only 3. Can you tell this has snowballed? I am just having so much fun. DollarTree has a lot of fun Disney stuff right now... all kinds of Disney crayons (4 packs for $1), Princess figurines, Pooh figurines, etc.. Speaking of how it snowballed I was just reading over this post and thought, "Hey, wouldn't it be magical if the balloons were filled with helium and flew up in the air!"
