fun countdownn traditions

Timeleft

It's a little countdown thingy that is displayed on your desktop. It can be personalized, shrunk, enlarged, moved, blah, blah, blah...

Each time we went to the Home Depot, we would take a few of the Disney paint samples that are shaped like Mickey. After awhile we had enough to create a countdown chain. We took a Sharpie marker and wrote the number of days on each sample, strung them together and hung them up. Each day we'd let our DS6 take one off of the chain.

We're planning another trip for this December. In October, or so, we'll pull them back out and hang them up.

We usually make a chain as well. We all pitch in to make the links out of construction paper & put a date on each one. A few of them get a Mickey head, like 180 days, 90 days, 30 days ect.. We then hang it around the living room near the ceiling. The one below was our longest one, almost a year, it went across three walls when we first hung it. We cut down one link each night before we went to bed & we video taped cutting down the special ones to put on the beginning of our vaction video.

This is the first trip in 5 years that we haven't made one....our daughter doesn't know that we're going. It's been rough keeping it a surprise. For our DD's first trip we made calander pages that were pulled off each night leading up to the trip. Each page had a different Disney character or WDW attration. The ones that my husband made all had pictures of food :rolleyes2 Guess that's why he goes to WDW. I'll try to hunt some of those down, I kept some, just don't remember which box. :)

:wizard: bryanspixie - what cute pictures!! :) your daughter is going to be so pleasantly surprised when she finds out!

How about one for us adults?

I draw little Mickey heads on both my large mat desk calender and my appointment book with the count down. I usually start it one or two months ahead. I generally announce the days left to annoy my co-workers on a daily basis. (They just don't get it. :confused3 )

This trip I leave 09/29, so I'll probably just do September. But, you never know, August might happen as I don't see any days off before then.
