FUN Budget AMTRAK Lancaster/Hershey area (Harrisburg station)

Anyone traveling to Hershey Lancaster area, we had a real treat.

We boarded the AMTRAK in downtown Lancaster parked for $5 and bought tickets to the Harrisburg Station. It was $8 adults and $4 for kids 16 and under,$48 for the 4 of us round trip.The train went over a hundred miles per hours at time. The stations are sooo old and and historic trip back in time!!!!!
It was about a 40-50 minute trip each, about 45 minute lay over, stopped at the snack shop, pictures of old parked trains, potty and then boarded back for the return trip.

So many things close at 5 pm in Lancaster, something extra, especially that the trip was great fun. After Strassburg Railroad, is was the top off of the trip.

Sounds like you got a good deal (and a nice historic ride) on the train considering you'd probably have to pay for parking at Hershey. My DH loves the Autotrain to WDW! Me, not so much, I'm not a good passenger in any vehicle LOL Although just a 45 minute ride I probably could do that

Gosh I wish it stopped at Hershey...it is Harrisburg train stop.
The short trip is really a treat.
DS loves Auto train too and did a bedroom trip last year and LOVED it. After the dual ride with a 5 yr old as short as it was, I could never imagine doing couch with kids from Lorton to Sanford, FL. I know I could not do it without a lounge car and bed at night....
Rather fly, but dgs would love mamma to go on the train with him.
