Fully booked/staying at multiple resorts?

Hey everyone! My sister and her bf and I wanted to go to WDW in January and we *love* staying on property. We really don't want to stay off property lol. Things happened though and we weren't sure if we could go or not. We just found out that we can (yay!) but it looks like all the value resorts are booked up and that's pretty much all we can afford. I tried moving the dates around as much as I could but we have school starting right after MLK day. Does anyone know if there's potential for rooms to start opening up?

My other question related to that is that I started playing around with booking one resort per night. If we did it this way we could stay on property, but obviously it would involves moving resorts every single day. I read that bell services will transfer bags for you so it seems like it might just be a matter of dropping off the bags at bell services and then taking a different bus home at the end of the day. So it doesn't sound so bad in theory. An inconvenience we think might be worth it to stay on property lol. I just wanted to know if anyone has done something like this and what their experiences were?

We do split stays very regularly. The challenge is that you are homeless for most of the day. Bell services will move your luggage but you need to make sure you budget in tips at each resort since one set of bell services people take your luggage and another set delivers it. Too many moves and it will get really pricey.

Two years ago I stayed at 5 different Disney resorts during my 7 night trip. Bell services transferred my bags without a problem each time, and I used Disney transportation to get to the resorts. Be prepared to be without your bags until late afternoon, usually by around 4pm, so you may want to keep a few things in a day bag just in case you want to enjoy the pool, or need medication, a jacket, etc. your luggage will not be delivered to your room until you are in your room and give Bell Services a call. They will not deliver to an empty room.

Thanks for the input everyone!! We all pack pretty lightly, and splitting tips between the 3 of us should offset the cost a bit. Luckily we don't really spend time at the hotel anyway. We spend all day at the parks so I think we could probably do it. Thanks again for your advice!!

Since you spend the days outside of the resort anyway, as long as you don't mind the packing issue, sounds good. Many people do not want the hassle, but if you know what you're getting into, try it.

I did look at Travelocity and Southwest with no luck but I didn't think to check those 2 in addition. I definitely will, thanks the suggestion!!

I had the same issue with my last two trips. Last year I stayed at CB, POR, and AOA. This year, I had to book POFQ, Sports, and Coronado. I believe part of the issue of having to do so was it was just over a month before travel, and that these resorts were 'less appealing' to the masses before me as all three have some type of refurbishments going on. I don't see it as a bad thing,because I enjoy seeing the different resorts. As a matter of fact,last year we stopped at every resort and took a pictures with the resorts' Christmas trees and the other decorations. Plus refurbs mean improvements coming.

Check out Dave's DVC and look into renting points. They have AWESOME deals ..The cheapest ..I think are Old Key West and Saratoga Springs.. you could find yourself in a deluxe room for the cost of a a value!! I just looked at 5 days in January and it was $less than a value . 4-5 people I believe for the studio.

You're an optimist trying to book DVC for January now. Unless OP finds a confirmed reservation for rent, even at Saratoga or OKW it's hard to find a multi-day stretch without switching rooms. DVC is designed to be 95%+ booked year round.

That the calculator will let you price a stay doesn't mean there's a stay to be had.

I did not imply there were rooms available, however I regularly get emails offering discounted points to these resorts in particular which are last minute. It is worth trying for sure. There is always pixie dust to consider

Look other places than Disney for booking a stay that won't require you to move every day. Last year I couldn't get a room at a Value on the weekend of a marathon or half marathon, and I instead went to Expedia or Travelocity and booked it there with no problem.
