Fullerton Train Station Question

We're thinking about doing a day trip from Carlsbad up to Knott's Berry Farm. It looks to me as though Fullerton is the closest train station, if we wanted to take the train.

Does anyone know much about the Fullerton train station and/or Knott's? Will we be able to get a cab easily at the Fullerton amtrak station? How long a ride to Knott's and will we be able to get a cab at Knott's to get back to the train station in the evening?

From the Fullerton Train station, there are sometimes cabbies waiting. If not, there is a phone located in the station that you can use to call for a cab. It should take about 15 minutes (depending on traffic) to get to Knotts from the station.

To get back, same thing holds true. There used to be a cab waiting area next to Snoopy's Headquarters, but with the construction for a TGIFridays, I'm not sure where they moved it to. There are pay-phones outside of Knotts that you could use to call a cab to take you back if there aren't any waiting.

Thanks. Is the fullerton station generally a safe place to be waiting with a child during the day or early evening? I assume so, but it's not a part of orange county I'm familiar with.

Yes, it's a busy commuter (Metrolink) and traveller (Amtrak) station. The Southwest Chief to Chicago stops there in the evening, as do the many Pacific Surfliner trains (San Diego-Santa Barbara).
