We are at the Fort now and I've heard there are 5 full time campers here staying year round, is this true and do they get a reduced rate?

There are some that snowbird at FW, but I think there is a limit on a site to less then 365 days. And to the best of my knowledge there are no discounts for long term stays, that program was nixed in the late 90's early 2000 from what I Been reading.

. . . there are several folks who at The Fort many weeks per year
. . . no, there are none that are "full time"
. . . plus, they need a new ressie periodically, which means they usually change sites
. . . and, if no sites available, they must go off-site until their next ressie

is this true and do they get a reduced rate?
. . . :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
. . . no, there is not a discount for volume/quantity *
. . . just the normal nightly discounts, such as AAA

* Sorry, couldn't resist. The Fort does not give discounts on campsites.
There is simply too much of a demand to have to offer deals.

Long timers are there and are subject to the same 30-day max length of a reservation, any applicable discounts available to you or me, etc. If they make them far enough in advance for the same type of site (one night's deposit paid etc) they don't have to move.

I've talked to a couple of people who live at The Fort, full time and have for a while (years). No special rates from WDW for them.

There are folks living at the Fort full time !! There is a lady that's been on 700 loop for at least 7 years. She rents out golf carts and is a travel agent. There are several other people doing the same thing, I don't understand Disney's tolerance of this situation it takes money out of their pockets " Go figure"

The resorts depend on rooms and sites being booked. This is how Disney sees it. As long as money is in hand for the site they are happy. This is why "throwaway sites" are allowed to happen.

Disney might not be making as much "park money" off the full timers, but they look at it as a rented site paid in full.

Tiggerdad - totally agree with your comments. As long as Disney is making money, they are happy!!!

HOWEVER, we need to ignore this poster. She obviously JUST recently joined to stir up trouble and is probably trying to get other people (who are still allowed to stay at the Fort) in trouble.

But the hook is so shiny, bigblock....

That seems like a pretty big assumption jump. Maybe worth giving folks the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise...

I have noticed 2 sites with the same equipment every trip. I personally feel like that 5th wheel in the 700 loop is tacky and I haven't seen it move in last 6 years . There is another full timer ( I think ) in the 1800 loop. It is a Newell (Million dollar) Motor home that is not always occupied and the landscaping on that site has been upgraded. So we are going back next week for 6 days just to make another observation ..stay tuned :thumbsup2

That's interesting since the "fifth-wheel" in 700 has only been there for 3 years.....

It was a Class A before that wasn't it?

I am not sure what makes the 5ver tacky. I go to the Fort every couple months and never seen anything that looks tacky about the site or camper. We will be back the first week of June for a week or so and look forward to seeing if they did something to make it tacky like painting pink or something.

My daughters loved that site. With all the decorations she had at the front it was something several people were stopping and filming. Lady was very nice.

I think so, I just remember that site as always occupied. and it wasn't always as messy as it is now.. they just keep adding things .. I look at the Fort as a classy RV resort and feel they are over the top with their decorations, but I can also see that kids would get a kick out of that site .. and I'm all for our children Loving Disney's FW as much as us old folks. I have seen that 1800 site empty once but the same coach was back in that site on our next trip.
