Full size tripod in parks?

Has anyone taken a full sized tripod into the parks in order to get good steady photos? We will have a stroller, so carrying it will be no problem. If you have, any advice would be great.

I had thought about doing this - mostly to use my timer to get pictures of DH and I together. But I can't bear the thought of leaving my $250 camera body and $500 lens sitting or $600 digital camera sitting out where someone could bump it over accidentally and with the crowds that's a real possibility. If you just want to steady your camera have you thought about a monopod? That's what I'm planning on taking this trip for the pictures that need a longer exposure.

I personally would find it a pain to carry around even in a stroller and then set up. I use an Ultrapod, which folds up small enough to fit in my fanny pack, has a pretty wide foot print for stability, and has a velcro strap attached so you can attach it to a pole or small tree. Cost is about 17 bucks in a camera shop.

:D

I don't know how it works in WDW, but at Disneyland most of the performers (stage, parade, etc) are part of a union that prevents professional quality photos and videos to be taken without extra compensation. Normally the line is drawn when a guest sets up a full-size tripod. However, not every CM knows about this rule and I do see full-size tripods in use from time to time.

My own personal opinion is that it is rude to set up your full-size tripod infront of any one, even if they arrive at the parade route/show/what-have-you after you.

It's probably a good idea to call WDW guest services and ask before you start your vacation.

We have used our full size tripod several times at WDW without any problems. The last time we used it was just last week to take photos during Spectromagic. If you want to put it on the stroller, then go right ahead :)!

I don't care about taking any pictures of shows, I would just like to take some photos of the castle and different things and I would never set it up where people would be behind it trying to look around it or over it.
