Full size cribs

Hi:
I just wanted to say that a couple of years ago we requested a crib for our gd for our stay at OKW and it was one of the hospital style metal cribs and it was big and ugly which she hated. We were just there in October and rented a crib from Baby's Best Friend and it was beautiful. Our newest gd (she was 21 months at the time) loved it and slept wonderfully for naps and bedtime the whole two weeks we were there. I have to say it was worth every penny.

We traveled to WDW when my DS was 5 months old. We had a full sized crib and we were staying at GF, I paid no extra for the crib.

We are going in May and will be staying at the BC in a 2br. I would like to rent a crib for my DGS who just turned 1 yr. Do you have the contact website for Baby's Best Friend? TIA.

Here is the website- $82.00 for 7 nights.. I guess not too bad, and I don't have to stess out about if the hotel will have one for me.. I think I might go this route.. Thanks to all of you!

We have been told that the non DVC resorts have full size cribs and that the co-located resorts, BC, BWI, WL, and Contemporary allow DVC Guests use the cribs if they are available.

:) Bill

That's what I have heard as well. While staying at DVC only resorts you only have an option of a pack 'n play (OKW and SSR). But like disneynutz says DVC guests can only use the cribs from the Disney resort if they are available. Guests at the Disney resort would have first priority.

Called MS again....was told THIS time that cribs ARE indeed available, and that they're stored at the CR!! Also, that high chairs are in each room, except for studios.

Again, I was told this is a request only. I told her I really can't take the chance of "maybe or maybe not".

...I advised my guest to contact ABBF and order it (thanks to all the positive reviews here on the Dis)!!:thumbsup2

I've used Orlando Crib Rentals many times. Weekly rate is $70 which includes bedding, bumper and extra sheet. And the best part is that they bring it right up to your room and assemble (I've heard you need to assemble ABBF cribs yourself) and come on your last day and pack it up.

Ooooh!! That sounds even BETTER!! And I just read they will get it there by 4PM. It would be nice not have to worry about putting it together (even tho I'm sure it's a piece of cake), as well as taking it apart and getting it downstairs by 10AM on day of departure!! Thanks so much...I will pass the website along to my friend!!;)

Just came back from BLT and housekeeping sent us up one of the metal cribs. We really needed it as we have a two year old and a seven month old. I was glad we didn't have to spend to rent one. I wouldn't bother putting it on your reservation request, housekeeping takes care of the cribs. Just call when you get your room.

I would do that....but with my luck we would get there and there wouldn't be any available!! LOL! I'm so happy to hear you had no problems!:goodvibes

We just don't want take a chance...guess we'll spend the $70 bucks just for peace of mind.;)

I figured I would take my chances and worst case scenario would be calling to rent while there. I was already renting a double stroller for $80 and it bugged me to spend another $80 for a crib unless absolutely necessary. I have to laugh at some of those rental prices, I believe a bumbo seat was like $30 for the week. For $5 more I could buy it. We did miss the exersaucer and bumbo seat though, but we survived.

Yes it is so nice. Just call with your room number and they bring it to your resort and up to your room. On your departure day, just tell them what time to come and they come pack it up and wheel it away. The cribs they now have are a bit different than what is pictured on the website as she has upgraded to very nice white cribs that essentially fold up in a snap. I've rented from them 3 times now and will be using again in June.

I'm a new DVC member and I'm finding this very frustrating. We're staying at AKV Kidani and have been hearing/reading conflicting information. My husband spoke with someone at AKV a month ago and was told they had full cribs and added it as request to our reservation. After reading this I decided to call then again directly today and was told they do not have them and they gave me a number to "All about kids" to rent one. I went to the web site and it just seems like ABBF is better. Well at least they have some pictures and stress the cleanliness of their items ;-)

Technically, they aren't full sized cribs. They are portable cribs. See my previous post below for a description of the crib we had at SSR. ABBF's items are clean, but for me, they were too clean and had a strong smell to them. We had to air them out on our balcony.

When we stayed at SSR in Oct 2008, we had a crib brought to our room because DD was not comfortable in the pack 'n play. It was a white metal crib on wheels. I wouldn't consider it a full-size crib though. It was just like this one which is 39" long. Full size cribs are usually 50+" long:

http://www.cribs.com/cribs/portable...se&gbid=Compact_Folding_Metal_Crib&TID=AMN004

It came with a 3" thick mattress and sheet. We wove the extra flat sheet for the pull-out sofa through the rails so that DD wouldn't hit her head.

We knew it wouldn't be long enough for DD on this last trip in Nov 2009, so we ordered a full size crib from ABBF. It worked out really well, though the bedding did smell a bit like cleaning products. We just aired it out by hanging and weighing it down on the chairs on our balcony.

Have you guys thought about purchasing phil&teds traveller?
http://www.philandteds.com/upload/index.php/sleep/54

We bought it for our disney cruise and our little one seems to like it.
Of course she sleeps on it every now and then at home before we travel to get her acclimated to it.
It is about 6lbs and fit in our suitcase just fine.
Just giving you guys another option.

Thanks 2binak- yes I did read your post and it made me think maybe I'll pack a crib sheet. We stayed in a hotel a few months back and had one of those "hotel style" metal cribs and my then 18 month old was towering over the sides.

I wonder if the conflicting responses from member services and the resort staff happens because people ask about full sized cribs and since they aren't technically full sized, the people who know this say that the resort doesn't have them and the people who don't know the difference in size say that they do have them?

Just a thought...the longer I'm a member, the more I realize that you could talk to 5 different people about the very same subject and get 5 different answers...and there doesn't seem to be a reason why the information is so different.
