Travelling in January 2013 with a 1 year old. Does anyone know if any of the Disney Resorts provide full size cribs? The pack n play doesn't work for me as a "crib" and I'm hoping to find a resort that offers a full size crib, even if I have to go to a deluxe resort.

Most deluxe resorts will offer a crib, but it is not a full size crib. They are a bit smaller than a regular crib. You just need to note your request on the reservation. Value and moderates only have pack n plays.

Even a smaller than normal crib would be better than a pack n play. The pack n play just isn't enough room for my son who likes to toss and turn in his sleep. Also, I had a friend who went to the Polynesian who only got a pack n play, which is why I'm trying to see if anyone knows of specific resorts that have the cribs.

Thanks for the information. I guess I should have known that it would be at the deluxe resorts if anything.

you could also rent a crib from an offsite baby gear rental place. Ive only rented strollers but ive read good reviews of others doing this.

I knew about renting strollers, but didn't know about renting cribs. Will definitely take a look into that. Thanks!

Have you ever traveled with your child before?

Depending on how much you are going to pay to upgrade to deluxe or rent a crib...I'd consider trying a night in a hotel somewhere first if you haven't.

I've traveled with both of mine and neither one slept well in strange cribs. Both slept well in their own beds in their own rooms at home (and at grandmas) but my oldest wouldn't sleep at all at a hotel and my youngest slept horribly but a little bit.

By the second night both became cosleepers. It might not be worth a penny to upgrade or rent...My suggestion would be to just sleep with your child from the getgo.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip!

We've stayed at WL and Poly and only had a pack and play. I requested crib and that is what I got ~ it was fine for us. I feel like they use the terms pack and play and crib interchangably, so you might want to call to have it noted in your reservation that you really want an actual crib.

I understand they have done/are doing away with real cribs at the resorts due to all the recalls/liability issues. But no first hand knowledge of that.

No you are actually better with the pack n play. It is bigger. The crib (at the poly) was a small metal travel crib on wheels. Our 1st trip with DD my parents requested a crib and we git a pack n play. This way we had both to see what was the most comfortable. Also we had connecting rooms and we wanted one in each room in case she was with them and wanted to nap. My DD actually disliked both and ended up with me. DD#2 however on our next trip was fine in the pnp. Btw they do offer large bed rails as another option. If you want a bigger crib I would rent it.

1) Where cribs are available, they are SMALLER than the Pak-n-Play.
2) Many resorts have discontinued cribs.
3) They have had metal and wood.
4) But, they each have safety issues, so WDW is stopping their use.

We had one last summer at the beach club. It wasnt full size like we have at home but was larger than pack and play. If you head to the Yacht/Beach FAQ thread, there is a photo on page one that I submitted of the crib in room.

I also heard from a CM there that there still would be cribs at the resorts just smaller quantities so you might not get one.

Rusty's info is accurate (and for those who don't know, he is a cm). We have been 5 times with our twins and stayed at all levels, including deluxe twice. Repeatedly we have been told cribs are being phased out. We did see one at WL and it was as rusty reports, a metal port a crib type that was smaller than a pack n play. I know they had full size cribs in the past and they seem to be super rare.

I would recommend that if you want a full size crib, book one through an offsite company. A babies best friend (ABBF.com) and Orlando crib rentals both get great reviews on these boards. My boys are not ready for beds and too big for pack n plays so we are renting from ABBF for our September trip.

When my son needed a crib on our last trip, I ordered from "a baby's best friend." The service they provided was top notch. It was a full sized crib with full bedding package. My son was 13 months at the time, and there was no way he was going to sleep in a pack n play. I was so happy with our decision to rent a crib. He slept great at naps and at night. This year we are going back and I am renting him a toddler bed, since he will be almost 3. ABBF will deliver right to the luggage room of the hotel, and all you need to do is show your paperwork. Bell services then delivered the crib to our villa, and it took less than 10 minutes for us to set it up. I can't recommend them enough!!

Yes, we went with the baby when he was an infant to Disney and he slept in a pack n play and did not sleep well. But by the sounds of it, the cribs offered may or may not be full size cribs, so it sounds like renting might be my best bet.
