I was reading about a local salon around here that does full body wraps and they promise that you will lose 4-17 inches each time. Is that possible? What does this wrap do? Is it safe?

It costs $50 if that means anything, and takes about 60-90 minutes.

I have had it done, since I got a gift certificate to a spa. The wraps are like ace bandages that are soaked in some solution. It is supposed to pull out toxins from the body and help shed inches. The lady took measurements around arms, legs, belly, hips etc. before the treatment and after. While I was wrapped, they also used heat which was nice and the wraps had an aromatherapy smell to them. I just closed my eyes and relaxed. After the treatment was over, she measured again and added up all the 1/4 and 1/2 inches lost around the body. I didn't lose any weight (even though I lost many inches, LOL) and it wasn't my intention, but it was very relaxing. I haven't done it again, because I would rather have a massage or facial than the wrap.

I love getting wraps but not because they allegedly are good for you; I just love the cocoon feeling of it.

I've never lost any inches/weight that wasn't just temporary. It would be like taking a water pill; your body is depleted of fluids but then as soon as you hydrate again, everything is back to the way it was before.
