I was wondering if you all could help me. We just got a new camper.Had an older one but never took it out, it was parked at a CG. How many miles to the gallon are you all getting. Im trying to plan a trip to WDW and I want as much info on fuel cost as i can get. I am lousy at all of this. We(meaning my DH-im sure he isnt going to let me pull it this far, from Indiana) will be pulling a 34 ft Crossroads Cruiser with our 97 Ford 350 Diesel. Thanks in advance for any help I get on this.

My 03 f-250 6.0 got 14-15mpg towing a 30 coachmen. My 08 f-350 6.4 only gets about 9mpg:headache:  :sad2: :scared:
I wish my 03 didn't have all the mechanical problems, I liked it a lot more than the new one.
I used to get 18-19 unloaded, with the new one I'm lucky if I get 12.
Sorry for the rant, but I hope that helps.

We get about 7-8 mpg with the motorhome :faint: ;)

My sincere condolences. Ultra low sulphur diesel is proving to be problematic You are not the first person I have heard this from. Best advice I heard was to experiment with different brands of diesel. My buddies have seen fairly dramatic differences between the major brands of diesel around my neck of the woods. I can check to see what gives them the best performance if this would help you (as they all drive Ford).

I went the other way and bought a hybrid Camry recently. I won't win any acceleration contests but do average 35mpg wherever I go.

Tow vehicle is a Durango......so no big trailers...........

good luck.

Regards,

Realistically I would expect somewhere between 10 and 12 as long as you keep your engine speed at around 2000 rpms. Grossing around 16 to 17K my Van has gotten from about 9.5 towing in the mountains to nudging 12 on the flat interstate.

We pray for 9 with our RV but budget for 6. I try not to think about it too much.

We're driving a toterhome these days, but last year when we pulled our 33' Sunnybrook TT with the 2002 2500 Silverado (duramax diesel), we were getting in the low teens. Our 2500 Suburban (8.1 liter gas engine) pulling the same rig got 8-9 mpg.

Mine isn't too big of a drop between city mileage and highway towing mileage.

I have an Explorer Sport Trac 4.0 V6 and tow a 1930 lb 16ft T@B.

I have a 22.5 gallon tank and get about 325 miles on a tank around town. (But I have 3.5 mile commute to work, so usually only fill up about every two weeks.)

On the highway pulling the camper, I get between 290 - 300 miles on a tank. (I don't want to remember that one time driving to FL without the camper many years ago, I got 470 miles on one tank.)

Oh, I'd love that info!!! On our trip to WDW a few weeks ago, we got 10 mpg with the new F-350 dually (when DH was nagged into keeping it at 55 mph) - otherwise, we dropped back to the single digits. When we towed the Outback with our conversion van we got 6-8 mpg. ugh!

I had a 2005 F-250 PSD Crew Cab with the 6.0 L diesel and got 12.6 MPG'a average towing our 30' Airstream (19 MPG's on my daily commute). I just trade for a 2008 F-250 PSD Crew Cab with the 6.4 L diesel (so far, daily commute is 15 MPG's best so far) and on the first trip towing to Disney World last week I averaged 9.5 MPG round trip towing the same 30' Airstream. Not a "happy camper" about the mileage, but I like everything else about the truck.

Just a quick question about your 08, is your front spoiler about 2 inches or is it about 6 inches, someone told me that ford figured out that the short one made a vacuum under the hood and killed the mileage, the longer one is supposed to gain up to 10%. Of course mine has the short one. Also, how bad does yours smoke during regeneration? Mine has 13000 on it, and it smokes so bad people behind me have to pull off the road.
