My MIL is traveling to Disney with us this summer. One of her favorite vacation activities is buying fudge. It is a treat she associates with family vacations. Is there a place in Disney that makes good fudge? She prefers the sugary kind, not the creamy kind (but DH likes the creamy kind). Thanks.

I don't know the difference sugary or creamy :confused3 but MK Main St Bakery has fudge, DHS has a candy store with fudge, DTD Westside has a really nice candy shop that has alot of fudge, probably some in Epcot World Showcase maybe....I'm sure someone that "knows" fudge will come along to answer you soon

If MIL will be flying home, I've heard that when you're going through security, you have to tell them if you have fudge in your carry-on bag. Apparently it shows up strangely when the bag gets scanned.

I don't know the difference between creamy or sugary either, but every year I have to get some of the chocolate peanut butter fudge from the Main Street Bakery. Yum!! :goodvibes

Boardwalk Bakery also had fudge-my sil always gets some when she's with us.

Maybe, but it's not a problem. I had an apple in my bag once and the TSA guy said "Do you have a cup of yogurt in that bag?" and I said "No, it's an apple" and he said "OK" and that was it. I guess they look the same on the scanner.

We used snack credits to get fudge from the MK on Main St. I left a small container of sun screen in my bag that was detected during airport screening. At first, they couldn't figure it out what caused the alert on the screener, so they started looking through my bag and found the box of fudge. They asked me what it was and then ran a strip of something along side of it to check (for something) and I thought, great, they are going to keep my fudge! Finally, they found the sun screen I forgot and I kept my fudge!

Main St Confectionary, Contemporary Resort, Goofy's at DTD, and somewhere in HS but I can't remember the name.

My husband and I love to buy fudge on Main Street. We usually buy the maple fudge. It's so good! They used to have Rocky Road, too.. But we didn't get a chance to stop in this year to buy some. :sad2:

Disney fudge is creamy fudge... not the " sugary" kind that I prefer also. Most places that sell it in big batches have the creamy kind because its not made the same. Oddly enought my dad had a fudge thing on vacations also. We always bought fudge if we saw it so now that he has passed I find myself buying it also even tho I dont really care for the type you find at WDW.
I have bought fudge in Germany at the candy store there before but not sure where else in Epcot sells it

We've bought fudge at...

MK Confectionery
DHS Villain's Store
Judge's Tent in Toontown
Contemporary shop

All of them had 8-10 different flavors available.

You shouldnt have a problem finding the sugary kind (this is the kind i absolutely hate and can spot the difference just from looking at it so thats why i didnt buy it at Disney). Im the other way around i too am a fudge nut and will only buy the creamy type (not precut either). If im that desperate for good fudge though I make my own as only a few places that i can get it is too far away.

For those of us who are confused, can anyone elaborate on the difference between sugary and creamy? Is it that the sugary has a grainy texture?

Thats what I am thinking.. the " sugary" kind is like when you make it at home by boiling sugar, milk, cocoa, etc and the creamy kind is the kind you get when you use condensed milk and chocolate chips...The sugary kind is grainy...

Yes the sugary type is with the grainy texture that you could taste the sugar crystals in your mouth. The cream & butter type fudge has a much smoother texture and you will not taste the sugar crystals in it. It almost looks smooth like frosting in appearance but harder. From my experience it comes in a big pan and will be cut at the time of purchase (not presliced or cubed). There is a difference in the ingredients also that will result in a better fudge. when i make mine at home I use the no fail method with the marshmallow fluff choco chips, condensed milk, butter, vanilla, etc....which always gives perfect smooth result. Also when making fudge if it is humid it will result in grainy fudge so its kind of tricky at times.

The fudge sold at Disney is normally made in the Confectionary on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. It is creamy fudge but presliced in flavors- they generally have a flavor you can try when you go to choose out the fudge so you can try it for the texture.

I was told by a CM who owrked in the confectionary that they supply the fudge for the other Disney locations (GF first floor grocery/snack shop, Goofy's in DTD, Villans on the Westside of DTD). I believe the Villan's store in DHS also makes the fudge there.
