Hi everyone,
We'll be staying at WDW 4/5-4/9 and we'd like to do a few activities at FW. Does anyone have reviews/opinions of the evening horse drawn wagon ride or the horse back riding? I'm looking for a few things to get ds9 interested in our trip. If there is anything else that you think might interest a 9 year old boy, please add your $.02. Thanks in advance for all of your input.

I think the horseback rides would be good if he's a novice, the campfire and movie is great for that age [bring some smores fixings], a visit to the barns, watch the Electric Water Pageant from the beach, fireworks from the beach, a bike or golf cart to ride around, fishing.

Or you can buy smore fixin's at the concession stand.

Do I read you right that a 9 year old doesn't seem interested in a trip to Disney World?????? :cool2:

Don't forget the swimming hole, the arcade, basketball & tennis courts, the playground, shopping, looking at the barn, & so much more. We never want for stuff to do. They have some organized activities for kids too. Love the Fort for kids. Won't stay anywhere else anymore.

Thanks for the input everyone. We never stayed at FW and would like to in the future. We thought we'd go explore the grounds and do some activities during this stay. I honestly had no idea this resort had so much to offer. I'm not a camper, but could probably be talked into staying in a cabin. Keep your ideas coming if you think of anything else.

Yes, you're correct. I'm embarassed to say, but ds9 has been to WDW more than most people will in a lifetime. We live locally and are dvc members. We are always looking for something new for him/us to do.

The fort has some nature-ish trails...not exactly safari like...but a great way to see some bunnies and armadillos, as well as deer and the occassional snake. A bicycle trail runs from Fort Wilderness to Wilderness Lodge....as well as tons of kids riding bikes all ove the campground...its definately a great place for a fairly outgoing 9 y.o. to find some good friends to hang with. I cant imagine a kid who wouldnt love cruising the campgrounds in a golfcart. ANd, as mentioned earlier..the fishing is really good...even "I" caught fish at the fort...and I NEVER catch anything!!! And the campfire/movie is awesome for kids...the LOVE burning marshmellows into little balls of fire!!!!
